HoopsHype Travis Diener rumors
All indications are that Travis Diener could have been the Bucks' third point guard this season if he so desired. But Diener, a Fond du Lac native who went on to star at Marquette University, wanted to play extensive minutes and, with Brandon Jennings and Keyon Dooling firmly entrenched as the Bucks' Nos. 1 and 2 point guards, that wasn't likely to happen. So Diener, who played in only 11 games last season with Indiana and Portland, opted to sign with Dinamo Sassari, which is located on the island of Sardinia, an autonomous region of Italy. After playing for three different NBA teams, Diener recently decided to take his game to Italy. He will play this season for Dinamo Sassari, based on the island of Sardinia. "From everything I've heard, it's a first-class organization," Diener said Monday night. "The city itself, it's on an island, and it's absolutely beautiful. I'm looking forward to going over there." Fond Du Lac
He said his agent had been in contact with several NBA teams —the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers were the most interested, and the Chicago Bulls joined the discussion later. "It was a very tough decision," Diener said. "I guess it was just something I had to do." Fond Du Lac
The Bucks are likely to fill the void left by Ridnour through free agency. One free agent point guard the Bucks have shown some interest in is Marquette University point guard Travis Diener, who finished last season with the Portland Trail Blazers. Racine Journal-Times
