The Knicks will keep Travis Wear on their 15-man roster and waive veteran Travis Outlaw, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told SNY.tv and The Knicks Blog. “Travis Wear made the team,” the source said. “They are cutting Outlaw.” The Knicks Blog
The 6-foot-10 Wear out of UCLA has a contract worth $507,336, but the source said only $62,000 is guaranteed. The 6-9 Outlaw is in the last year of a four-year, $12 million fully guaranteed deal and is owed $3 million. Still, Wear has outplayed Outlaw so far in the triangle offense in the preseason, shooting 45 percent in five games. “Travis [Wear] ia a really good player,” Knicks coach Derek Fisher said last weekend. “He works hard every single day. He has some natural talents and some natural gifts that you can’t coach. He’s extremely athletic and he has a feel for the game of basketball. New York Knickerbockers President Phil Jackson announced today that the team has signed guard Langston Galloway and forward Travis Wear. Terms of the deals were not disclosed. Galloway, 6-2, 202-pounds, is an undrafted rookie out Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. After four seasons, the Baton Rouge, LA native finished his collegiate career as the Hawks’ second all-time leading scorer with 1,991 points and the school’s all-time leader on three-point field goals with 343. For New York’s entry at the 2014 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas this past July, he averaged 5.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists over 13.8 minutes in four games NBA.com
