Wednesday’s loss to Memphis assured the Jazz of their second non-playoff season in three years. It was also (cue the "Twilight Zone” music) Corbin’s third season. Asked if he is feeling pressure, Corbin said, “I put pressure on myself.” Going strictly by percentages and playoffs, the Jazz are in worse shape than last year. They have nine potential free agents, depending on whether Marvin Williams exercises his option. Deseret News

Utah's hopes of sneaking past the Lakers into the West's final playoff berth have dwindled since a hope-generating win at Golden State as recently as Sunday night. After finally finding a way to win one in Portland, L.A entered the weekend as a 73.5 percent favorite, according to ESPN.com's Hollinger Playoff Odds, to snag the No. 8 spot. But one source close to the situation, echoing the sentiments in last weekend's Weekend Dime, insisted to ESPN.com this week that Tyrone Corbin will be back next season for the final year of his contract even if the Jazz -- filled with free agents and youngsters -- fail to reach the postseason. The quickie summation for this format, from those plugged into the coaching grapevine, is that Corbin's position is likely endangered only if the Jazz miss out on the playoffs. And even then -- even amid ongoing doubts about his ability to make on-the-fly game adjustments and what has been described as an unremarkable sideline presence -- Corbin could hang on. ESPN.com

Having eight players bound for free agency may be taking a toll on the Jazz, coach Tyrone Corbin said Friday, and could be partly to blame for the team’s late-season struggles. "It may have a little something to do with where we are," Corbin said. "We can’t do anything about it. We’ve got to play our way through it, that stuff we can’t do anything about until it’s time to do something about it." Salt Lake Tribune

Most Jazz fans probably didn’t know Leslie was on the team because he never played a minute during his short stay with the franchise. The 6-foot-4 Leslie had been signed to a 10-day contract March 10 after averaging 16.1 points and 7.4 rebounds for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA’s D-League, but was released Tuesday morning. “He did nothing wrong. We made sure he understood that,’’ said Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin. “He was great. He appreciated the opportunity to come in and for us to get a look at him and our franchise and see if it’s a good fit. He’s a good guy and hopefully down the road we’ll get to know him a lot better.’’ Deseret News

The Jazz's drive from the airport to Brooklyn on Monday was uneventful. Getting to the hotel was another story. "We took a tour of the arena twice," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said, laughing. Translation: The bus driver got lost. Fortunately, the Jazz happened to have a living Brooklyn-savvy GPS system on the bus with them: Tinsley. "He was kind of lost," the Jazz backup point guard said, smiling. "He made about two left turns the wrong way and two right turns …" Those right turns weren't so right, after all. "We could've been to the hotel a half-hour (earlier)," Tinsley recalled. "I thought we were staying at another hotel. I thought they knew something I didn't know." Deseret News

“Greg Miller, Randy Rigby and Kevin O’Connor made an excellent choice when they selected Tyrone Corbin to lead this team. I have been very impressed with Ty’s leadership skills, as well as his openness and collaborative nature,” said Jazz General Manager Dennis Lindsey. “He inherited a young team under difficult circumstances and did a remarkable job last season of developing our players and advancing the team to the playoffs. He has shown poise, steadiness and an overall passion for the franchise’s well-being that I am confident will serve the Jazz well moving forward.” NBA.com
