The Brooklyn Nets announced Monday that guard Tyshawn Taylor and forward Tornike Shengelia have been recalled from the Springfield Armor (2-9), presented by MGM Springfield, and will join the team in Brooklyn. Taylor and Shengelia each played a pair of games with the Armor over a weekend set inside the MassMutual Center. Taylor scored 15 points on 5-of-17 shooting from the field, while going 5-for-5 from the charity stripe over 32 minutes off the bench in Saturday’s loss to the Skyforce. He finished off his weekend stint with the Armor by netting three points and logging four assists Sunday’s 93-74 victory over the Maine Red Claws. NBA.com

Shengelia was originally assigned to Springfield on November 7 and recalled to Brooklyn on November 9, before being re-assigned to Springfield on November 10. The Nets will hold the final draft workout at their New Jersey practice facility today. The headline name among the six players who are scheduled to attend is Louisville center Gorgui Dieng, who anchored the Cardinals’ defense on their way to the national championship. The other players expected to participate are Ohio State forward Deshaun Thomas and four local products: Miami guard Durand Scott, who starred at Rice High School; USC guard Jio Fontan, who began his collegiate career at Fordham after playing high school ball with Nets guard Tyshawn Taylor at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City; St. Bonaventure forward Demetrius Conger and Division III Farmingdale State center A.J. The Brooklyn Nets have recalled forward Tornike Shengelia and guard Tyshawn Taylor from the Springfield Armor of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by General Manager Billy King. The two players were assigned to Springfield on March 18. In 10 games for the Armor this season, Shengelia holds D-League averages of 24.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Shengelia posted an Armor franchise-high tying 39 points to go along with 18 rebounds on January 24 vs. Maine after recording a triple-double in his D-League debut December 21 against Erie. The 6-8 forward posted a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds to go along with five assists and three steals in his most recent contest March 23 against Maine. NBA.com

The Brooklyn Nets have reassigned Tornike Shengelia and Tyshawn Taylor to the Springfield Armor, the Nets’ NBA Development League affiliate. In his previous four assignments to Springfield, Shengelia played in seven games, averaging 25.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 37.3 minutes.
