HoopsHype Vanilla Ice rumors
Whatever your favorite NBA team had tonight for halftime entertainment, it's not as cool as Vanilla Ice. The Milwaukee Bucks went all-out for "'90s Night" at the Bradley Center, hiring the iconic one-hit wonder to perform at halftime of their Saturday evening game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Unfortunately, the performance was not carried on the Bucks' home broadcast, but that makes it all the more special for those lucky enough to be in attendance for this once-in-a-lifetime event. It's not exactly difficult to see Vanilla Ice in concert if one is so inclined – he's a staple of state fairs and the Gathering of the Juggalos. But no matter how many times you've seen the Ice Ice Baby rapper live, you've never seen him perform while wearing a Monta Ellis throwback jersey. USA Today Sports
The Detroit Pistons today announced the entertainment lineups for three theme nights this winter -- which will bring music luminaries Rose Royce, Morris Day and Vanilla Ice to the Palace of Auburn Hills. The theme nights begin with “Super ‘70s” night for the Memphis game on Friday. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Greg Monroe poster and enjoy halftime entertainment from Rose Royce, which will perform its 1976 No. 1 hit “Carwash.” Detroit Free Press
The Detroit Pistons have announced three decade-based theme nights over the next few weeks, all with special halftime musical guests. The promotion kicks off with "Super 70's" on Jan. 20, when the Pistons host the Memphis Grizzlies. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Greg Monroe poster and the halftime artist will by Rose Royce, who will perform her 1976 No.1 hit Carwash. The theme will switch to the 1980's when the Atlanta Hawks come to town on Jan. 27. The giveaway for that contest will be a Jonas Jerebko poster, and fans will be treated to the lyrical stylings of Morris Day at the half. Finally, the Pistons will have a 90's theme for their Feb. 2 game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Ben Gordon will be on the commemorative poster, and the halftime act will be none other than Vanilla Ice. Booth Newspapers
