DJ Strawberry Rumors
DJ Strawberry is suing Cibona Zagreb to FIBA BAT to due lack of payments, according to a source with the knowledge of the situation. The Croatian team still owes Strawberry money (rumors say more than 100.000 USD). The American guard has played with Cibona from September 2012 till December 2012 when he left for France.
According to krepsinis.net, the San Antonio Spurs, along with the Los Angeles Lakers, were interested in former NBA player D.J. Strawberry but the NBA lockout all but put an end to Strawberry possibly returning to the NBA and joining San Antonio. Although he would have been another guard, the Spurs’ interest in him was probably due to the fact he is a decent defender. And this focus on defense is good to see coming from San Antonio as they retool for next season. If there is a next season.
The New Orleans Hornets waived guard D.J. Strawberry on Wednesday. In four preseason games, Strawberry averaged 3.0 points. He was held scoreless after playing four minutes in Wednesday’s 105-98 overtime loss to the Charlotte Bobcats.
The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have signed free agent guard D.J. Strawberry and center Darryl Watkins. Per team policy, terms of the contracts were not released. The addition of Strawberry and Watkins puts the training camp roster at 14 thus far.
