After it was announced that he will enter the 2017 NBA Draft, the Turkish young star of Galatasaray Ege Ar talked to Eurohoops about this highly important decision of his career and how he feels with the prospect of being picked by an NBA team. “It’s so exciting for me to enter the NBA Draft,” he said.“This season I am having better year individually with Galatasaray jersey. Obviously playing in Pertevniyal (in Turkish 2nd division) with double licence has a big effect on this. After this improvement on my performance, I have decided to make this choice.”
“Of course it’s not certain that i am going to be drafted this year. But there is still time for the draft and me, my family and my agent are going to make steps for future progress”, added the 20-year-old power forward.
And that’s why playing in Europe was the right choice for him, as Smith confirms: “It was an easy decision for me. I wanted to play in the Euroleague, in a high level competition. I was two years in the NBA and did quite well in the minutes I got and also in the summer leagues. I did not, however, had a really good chance to show what I can do in the NBA and that is why I decided to come in the Euroleague. My goal is to show my real abilities and to help my team ” Naturally the NBA remains in his mind … “Of course, if I get the chance through Galatasaray to return to the NBA I will. For now, however, I love being a part of this team and I am here to do what I love, playing basketball ”
Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul reacted quickly to fill its need for a big man under the rims by signing a one-year deal with center Tibor Pleiss, the club announced on Monday.
