Jeff Foote Rumors
Jeff Foote is set to replace Robertas Javtokas in Zalgiris’ roster, Kauno Diena daily reports. The club needed to add a center as Lithuanian national team captain will be out of action for at least 4-6 months. The 25-year-old American center comes from NBDL team Springfield Armor where he averaged 14.6 points and 9 rebounds per game.
Jeff Foote, a three-time All-Ivy League center at Cornell and Spencer-Van Etten graduate, was named to the Brooklyn Nets’ Summer League roster on Tuesday. Foote’s father, Don, said in May that Jeff would accept an invitation to play for the team. Foote, who attended the Nets’ free agent camp May 21-23, was called up by the New Orleans Hornets on a 10-day NBA contract last March.
In additon to Morrison, Thornton and Wright, all lottery picks, the Nets have recruited Jeff Foote who played for the Armor, Edwin Ubiles, who was D-League rookie of the year, Taurean Green, a combo guard who played on Florida’s national championship team and now plays in Turkey. The Nets two European picks in Thursday’s draft will not play in Orlando, which runs from July 9 to 13.
The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have signed forward Jeff Foote to a 10-day contract. Foote, a Cornell University product, has appeared in 29 regular season games with the Springfield Armor in the NBA Developmental League this season, starting in 28 of the 29 contests. Foote averaged 14.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 32.9 minutes of play with the Armor.
The New Orleans Hornets are expected to sign 7-foot center Jeff Foote to a 10-day contract on Friday, according to league sources.
