Luther ‘Ticky’ Burden Rumors
Former New York Knicks guard Luther “Ticky” Burden says his hard-knock life story is more compelling than last year’s Oscar-nominated movie “The Blind Side.” And he’s ready to talk to publishers and movie producers because he needs funds for his wife’s breast cancer treatment. Willie Dabbs, who says he’s Burden’s agent, tells us he’d especially like to reach out to “Will Smith and Denzel Washington to help us with our project. If they did some research into Mr. Burden’s life, they would find how compelling his story is,” he says. The 57-year-old Burden’s story is a tale of glory, scandal, and, ultimately redemption. Although his career with the Knicks lasted only two seasons from 1976-78, the All- American Albany native was known for his whip-fast release of the ball, for the red tassels he wore on his sneakers and for a 36-year scoring record he attained playing for the U.S. men’s national basketball team.
