Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki were both knocked out of the French Open in the early rounds, and instead of sticking around Roland Garros, the two players retreated to Miami to watch the Heat beat the Pacers in Game 6. After the game, Williams and Wozniacki celebrated with Greg Oden and Chris Bosh.
Serena Williams Rumors
Knicks center Tyson Chandler grew up near Serena Williams in Compton, Calif., and is proud she helped put his nook of Los Angeles on the sports map with her tennis greatness. Chandler is even prouder Serena inspired his 7-year-old daughter, Sacha Marie, to want to play tennis. While Chandler isn’t pushing his daughter to be a professional, she’s at least in good hands as a pupil at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy on Randall’s Island.
After winning her fourth Wimbledon title Saturday, Serena Williams weighed in on instant replay in the World Cup (they should have it), and on the future of Lebron James, whom she said should not even bother listening to the overtures of the Knicks or Nets. “I think he should stay in Cleveland because he’s from Ohio,” Williams said. “He’s built such a great franchise there with the Cavaliers. So many people watch them. Obviously I like Miami (Williams lives in nearby Palm Beach Gardens), but I think it’s cool that he stays in Cleveland.”
