Tom Crean Rumors

Dwyane Wade: When I only had 3 scholarship offers in high school I was alil down on myself but going to Marquette and getting the chance to be taught the game of basketball and life by @tcrean5 I became the luckiest kid out of the 2000 class. After the NCAA Tournament, Williams predicts UCLA coach Steve Alford will leave for Indiana, a job vacated last week when the school fired Tom Crean. Given Alford starred at Indiana during his playing days, helping the Hoosiers win the 1987 national championship, that potential move makes sense. Alford’s replacement at UCLA? “I see Mr. Earl Watson, the head coach of the Phoenix Suns, coming back home to UCLA,” Williams said.
Stevens’ name has been rumored about after Indiana University fired Tom Crean earlier this week. Even if Stevens were interested, it would be next to impossible for him to leave Boston for another college coaching job. The Celtics signed Stevens to a six-year, $22 million contract when they hired him in 2013, and gave Stevens a three-year extension in 2016. The Celtics have no incentive to release him from his current contract to take a college job.

Wade credited that meeting with playing a key role in his strong play down the stretch as the Heat won the NBA title. We’ll see what happens now as Wade is battling a bone bruise on his right knee that has resulted in plenty of concern about his play. “He doesn’t need motivation on that,’’ Crean said Tuesday in a phone interview with FOX Sports Florida about Wade fighting through his injury. “But people need reminders. And sometimes in my life, I need reminders. He knows what he needs to do, and he’s out there taking care of it …. He’s going to be there through the long haul. He’s got a lot of season left. I think that’s how he’s approaching it.’’
