Zaire Wade Rumors
Jimmy Butler played one-on-one with Dwyane Wade’s 15-year-old son Zaire, who we’ve long known has game, for the first time earlier this week. Wade mentioned it on Snapchat, and Zaire shared the moment with his followers. Butler told For The Win that his Bulls teammate’s son is very talented — when it comes to basketball and when it comes to talking trash.
In last Thursday’s NBA draft, two sons of former NBA stars were selected. Tim Hardaway, Jr. went to the New York Knicks, and Glen Rice, Jr. went to the Washington Wizards. In about 10 years, Dwyane Wade’s son Zaire could be next. Zaire Wade has already blown up the Internet with a highlights mixtape that’s as impressive as a fifth-grader can be. “My son loves the game of basketball,” Dwyane Wade told For The Win. “His dream is one day to play in the NBA, so I just try to give him everything he needs to be able to do that.”
“My son is big on watching YouTube,” he adds. “He’ll watch guys like Chris Paul, those quicker, smaller guys, and see some of the things they do and try to mimic it.” But does he also mimic his old man? “He’s got a little bit of me in him,” Wade laughs. “He’ll steal some of my moves every now and again.”
As first posted by City League Hoops, and featured in the video above, Zaire Wade has emerged as one of the nation’s top fifth grade boys basketball players. The younger Wade completely tore apart the competition at the recent John Lucas Future of the Game camp and emerged as one of the most impressive young point guards on offer.
Dwyane Wade appears to share something else with James, too: Zaire Wade’s affections. Given the fact that his father is a highly paid athlete who has his own sneakers (made by Chinese company Li-Ning, unlike LeBron’s Nikes), one might assume that young Zaire would compete proudly sporting the latest D-Wades. He doesn’t. Instead, he played at the Future of the Game event wearing the latest LeBrons.
