Rudy Gay, Quincy Acy and Aaron Gray did not practice with the Kings this morning. They are taking their physicals today.
Big decision for plane flight - read more of Thinking Fast and Slow or delve into Stats Vu Numbers and tweet like a mad man
Did the pilot just say the temperature in Minneapolis is 8 degrees? SMH.
Hearing Hapoel Holon have waived rookie center Alex Oriakhi after just four games. Oriakhi also played for French Limoges.
Best wishes to Brian Bunton cameraman who got blitzed by the errant Enes Kanter pass last night. 3 stitches and mild concussion. See u Sat

Oh man, Michelle is the Rondo of international relations.
League's 10 most improved rebounders (kind of a fascinating list): http://t.co/d5qmRSArtH
That was a Mack Brown quote from Horns 247
"I'm in Florida recruiting. If I had decided to step down I sure wouldn't be killing myself down here. I have not decided to step down." MB
WAIT! UPDATE! This is why the CA requires two sources. New source even closer to Ribs says it was just one of the original three last night
Players with most drastic spread btw 3p eFG% & long2P% (better off w/ the 3): Korver (-33%),Matthews (-26%),RyanAnderson (-25%),Henry (-24%)
Texas shouldn't have to hire Nick Saban. Texas should be good enough to create the next Nick Saban.
Pecan pie component rankings: 1) Goo 2) Pecans 3) Crust.
players better off taking the long 2PA (based on spread btw 3P eFG% & long 2 FG%): Sullinger, CP3, Dudley, Gerald Green, Bargnani, Dragic
Derrick Favors and Marvin Williams both practiced today. Favors (back) is a game-time decision and Williams (heel) is doubtful Wednesday.
Chilling in the NBA on TNT studio: http://t.co/pP25cfUkGV
Derrick Favors and Marvin Williams went through practice. Favors a game-time decision Wednesday at Kings; Williams doubtful.
I went ahead and calculated the eFG% on the 3pa by all the midrange shooters i listed, then compared with their FG% on long 2pa. Results:
So if I'm a 30% 3P shooter and I shoot better than 45% on long 2PA, it means the long 2PA is a better "investment" property for me
I'm neutral on the Kaepernick-media thing--his right, there are effects. But people are still very angry at me. This is ideal, really.
Let's start fun facts. I called 30% 3P shooting the Mendoza line...doing the math 30% 3P shooter who took only 3s would have an eFG% of 45%
I'm told Mack Brown is on a previously scheduled recruiting trip. UT officials denying report that he's said he's stepping down.
ESPN - NAIA says player can keep $20K won on half-court shot at Thunder game if used as scholarship <<< I was there!
How have I not heard this R Kelly "and I'm sticking to it!" before?!?
Shawne Williams is also a part of four of the top five best shooting 5-man groups for the Lakers this year.
In terms of Net Off and Def ratings, Shawne Williams is a part four of the top five Lakers 5-man units to play at least 10 mins this year.
No surprise, but Kelvin Sampson confirms Omer Asik (thigh contusion) will be out vs. Portland.
Let the Nick Saban to Texas rumors begin. On the other hand if I ran ESPN I go after Saban right now.
And if it's not clear by now Toronto can't amnesty Salmons -- only team that had you under contract when lockout ended can -- I weep for you
The only way Coach Taylor would take the Texas job is if they hire Mrs. Coach to be chancellor.
Tim Riggins for Texas coach.
J-Lin says he feels good, no limitations, and will play vs Portland on Thursday.
Bulls and Bucks 630 pre Bulls Radio Net. No Deng No Butler
What’s the best new album out? I need a good one.
Prepping for Mavs at W's tomorrow, Steph Curry in last 7 games is averaging 30.1 pts & 42 mins/gm. Scored 43 in GS loss at CHA last night
Critics rip Mack Brown but the guy had a great run at Texas. Great
SLL post includes complete list of NBA's 20 players amnestied to date. Must note it's possible neither Boozer nor Perkins ever joins them
Mike D'Antoni said there hasn't been any talk about Kobe sitting out the 2nd night of back-to-backs on L.A.'s upcoming road trip
Wish I'd chosen Karl Hungus as my Twitter handle.
The link coming up next, and the others in the coming days, are literally my favourite things ever to write. My favourite annual tradition.
Kevin McHale not at today's practice -- attending personal matter.
One casualty of the blog- and Twitter-centric media landscape: actual journalism, replaced by innuendo and heresay.
Trade of John Salmons to Toronto means only two players left in entire NBA are legitimately at risk to be amnestied: C. Boozer & K. Perkins
Trivia: 5 players had >= 500 FGA last season & haven't played this season. 4 (Delfino, Gallo, Landry, Okafor) are injured. Who's the 5th?
The Lakers starting lineup of Blake-Meeks-Kobe-Williams-Pau will be their 9th different starting combo in 21 games.
Dog days of winter http://t.co/pxdCt62rRw
If I may....BAAAAALL NIIIIIGHT!
"We should be used to that by now," Blake said of the revolving starting lineup
News alert: Lakers make another lineup change. Tonight's starters -- Kobe, Meeks, Williams, Gasol and Blake
Knicks at Cavs tonight ... can New York become the first team EVER to play in four consecutive games decided by 30 points or more?
From shootaround: After cameras left, Bosh REALLY started mocking idea of this being a big game: "I'm going to take the Super Bowl of naps."
With Wesley Johnson moving to the bench, D'Antoni can play small with Johnson/Hill at backup 4/5 or big w/Johnson/Hill/Sacre.
Jeremy Lin back at practice today; his first since injuring knee nearly two weeks ago.
Sacre's brief run as starter ends tonight. Shawne Williams gets the call, primarily to guard perimeter-oriented Channing Frye.
Mike D'Antoni is tired of big men going off for career-highs vs. the Lakers. "In the paint, we're awful and we've got to get tougher."
I would like to thank all the little people who made my performance in today's Chamber of Commerce video possible.
The Suns have a starting lineup that would be perfect for D'Antoni ball.
Also, this is an effort by D'Antoni to see what kind of lineups work around Kobe. One game wasn't enough to figure things out.
If D-Backs get Trumbo they're going to be a serious threat to win NL flag. They have a ton of prospects.Could make a deal with Cubs for JS.
With Meeks, Williams and Blake starting around Bryant and Gasol, the floor should be spaced quite well to give Kobe/Gasol room to operate.
Shawne Williams has steadily improved as he's gotten back in NBA shape after a year off. He's hit 10 3's over the last 4 games.
You probably don't want Kobe guarding the quick Goran Dragic. Kobe on PJ Tucker is a bit more manageable.
Meeks for Wes sounds more like a defensive matchup switch more than anything else.
There's a notion in Indianapolis that if the Pacers win the head-to-head series against the Heat, George will take the MVP from LeBron.
Bryant will most likely guard the opposing SF and Meeks the SG, naturally.
Lakers starters tonight: Blake, Meeks, Bryant, Williams and Gasol. Two changes there with Johnson/Sacre out for Meeks/Williams.
Manu, too, took note of Raps in LA: "That helps you realize if you don’t take it seriously, it can get really tough."
Lucas Nogueira suspended his contract with Estudiantes. The player will undergo some tests for his knees problems
Worth noting Raptors won at Lakers with same short-handed group. Pop: "We watched them against LA, they looked pretty darn good to me.”
Ginobili said it would be "a big mistake" to take Raps as a gimme: "It’s the NBA. Everybody has talented players who can have a great game.”
Just got to Boston. Who do I talk to about joining the Funky Bunch?
Raps are in flux -- three traded guys are gone; four new guys have not arrived. Augustin has been waived and Hanbrough might be injured.
Raptors, by my count, could have as few as 10 players available for tonight's game vs. the Spurs.
Lance: "Playing against the Heat I get hyped. They the champs, you always got to bring it to the champs. I’m taking this gm as a champ. gm."
Thomas also is 3rd in assists & 4th in win shares of players selected in 2011. Outdone in pts only by Kyrie, Kemba Walker & Klay Thompson
Of course, the Heat media can shovel the sidewalks, especially if bron, Spo, DWade, CB and UD, Ultimate Warrior, orders them to do it.
Pop calls Splitter "one of our most consistent players." ... "We're trying to sit him a while and hope he can get healthy."
Have confirmed that UT president Bill Powers didn't join Mack Brown and Steve Patterson in NYC this week. Brown & Patterson met Sunday.
Note from TV broadcast to share here: Kings' Isaiah Thomas, 60th & last pick in 2011 draft, has scored 4th most pts of players drafted in 11
Pop on Splitter's bum calf: "I don’t think it’s serious, but it’s a nagging thing. If he doesn’t just sit, it’s going to come back again."
I'll have some fun facts that didnt make my piece about the decision to forgo a 3P in exchange for a 2P in a little while....stay tuned
The only part of DJ Augustin possibly becoming a Bull that I'm excited about is that he has a Jordan shoe deal.
Derrick Favors was on the court getting some work in before practice today. Was starting to feel better yesterday. Should have update later.
I'll have a few stories to share about the passing of Jim Corno tonight on Bulls pre game show at 630CT on Bulls Radio Net and ESPN 1000
Pop: “I’m not really interested in fueling whatever it is you want to write about what’s going on in Toronto.”
Go ahead, Canadian press. Ask Pop about the prospect of the Raptors tanking.
Hibbert wouldn’t be surprised if Oden made his season debut. "I’m not planning on it, but in the back of my mind, I have a feeling he may."
Vogel: "I’ll leave the rivalry talk up to you guys.” Hibbert says it’s not. "We’ve only faced off against them twice in the playoffs."
Warriors were 22-10 last year in late December. Well behind that pace this year but should make push with plenty of home games coming.
So Jeremy Tyler averaging 21 points, 7.5 rebounds over last two games for Erie. With 4-in-5 nights for Knicks, time for big man help?
True New Yorkers want a historic blizzard on Super Bowl Sunday.
Augustin isn't all that great offensively, but he can score, which they need. And CHI has enough defense to make up for him on that end.
Over past few yrs, CHI's been a tm that's stayed afloat w PGs who can create/score themselves. Watson, Lucas III, Nate Robinson.
Jeff Bewkes, Time Warner CEO, is on CNBC live right now - very interesting about the future of media.
True New Yorkers want the Knicks to wear white at home & want to free the Knicks City Dancers.
More from Bosh: "Even if you win the ultimate prize, you're yesterday's news. If you're looking for respect, you're never going to get it."
Certainly got the impression Notre Dame and the Pinstripe execs weren't enthused over the possibility over a matchup with Houston.
True New Yorkers laugh when they read Berman of the Post.
Kyle Flood called the Pinstripe Bowl "a dream come true." Grew up a Yankees fan.
Chris Bosh on Pacers' chemistry: "You can tell they're a cognitive unit that works together and is trying to get it done."
STOP says it has more than enough signatures to qualify the arena vote on a July 2014 ballot & will turn those signatures in at 3pm today
Eagles Bears on Dec 22 flexed to 830 pm start
TFC has traded Stefan Frei, who has been on the team since I covered the team, for a conditional 2015 pick. Nice dude — Frei, not the pick.
Julie Hermann: "We head into the Big Ten next fall. This gives us an opportunity to really regroup and take a hard, long look at ourselves."
KD on Korver's record streak of 90 straight games with 3: "I was thinking about that the other day, I don't think I could last 50 games."
Little off topic in Indy today, but have to ask: How can Baseball Hall of Fame be taken seriously when it blackballs Marvin Miller?
Technicality on "Never .500 in December" trivia: Bobcats won opener in lockout-delayed 2010-11 season the day after Christmas.
Jazz power forward Derrick Favors is on the court working out before practice.
Spoelstra added that the Pacers are "playing great basketball" and "you have to respect that."
I asked Spoelstra if the Pacers were better this year: "That remains to be seen. It's a long season."
No decision on Taylor's or Biyombo's availability until at least shootaround tomorrow.
Jeff Taylor (inflamed heel) is more likely to play vs. Magic than Bismack Biyombo (ankle sprain).
At 33 Mark Prior retires. Such a promising start. Sports can be very cruel as can life but he's only 33 with a full life in front of him.
Wail until Curtis Grand-standing finds out in May that the Mets plan on "contending in 2015."
Also today is the deadline to submit signatures to push arena subsidy to a vote. Should know by January whether a vote will happen.
Andre Roberson started a game earlier this year in Milwaukee with Thabo out. Played 13 minutes. Expect the same tonight.
Chicago is a strong frontrunner to sign D.J Augustin, league sources told Yahoo. After Toronto release, clears waivers Wednesday at 5 pm.
Just call him Curtis Grand-standing: "A lot of people have told me true New Yorkers are Mets' fans."
Sixers coach Brett Brown expects Michael Carter-Williams to make trip today to Minnesota. That's the word now. Could change. You never know.
Scott Brooks called Thabo Sefolosha day-to-day with that sprained right knee. Didn't seem too serious.
I guess Kaepernick fans are outraged this topic has come up again. I'm NOT ripping him. But go run and tell him that I am. Fine by me.
Notre Dame will practice at the Giants facility after they arrive in NY on the 23rd.
Granger at this point looking like perfect addition to bench. Will take minutes from Orlando Johnson and Solomon Hill, a few from PG and LS.
Another reason Brooks said he chose Roberson: Allows him to chase Kyle Korver around for 5-6 minutes to start game.
At this morning's shootaround, Brad Stevens ruled Kelly Olynyk out for tonight's game against the Nets.
Though few will believe me, again, I really like Curry's game. It's lack of objectivity from fans/media about his game I don't like.
Flood said there has been "tremendous interest" in all three openings within the coaching fraternity.
