HoopsHype NBA Media twitter
The stuff that gets people angry on Twitter... is everything.
J.R. Smith the the playoffs post suspension: 15.8p on 53.8% overall 51.3% from 3 & 4.8r. Pre-suspension? 9.8p on 36.6%, 26.7% from 3 & 3.3r
I'm sure more than a few members of the GSW traveling party were doing exactly this math as they sat stuck waiting for their plane today.
If GSWs win the title, they'd be the champion that traveled the most combined time zones. Somebody can add up the miles. It's a lot.
OK, since I'm using Twitter as my worksheet, let's clarify: If GSWs get to finals, they'd match 2004 Lakers for most time zones traveled...
I knew the day would come when the Illuminati came for me. http://t.co/Jvv4ZJ9q1D
This is the Warriors' 3rd straight Central TZ opponent; if they win they'll play an Eastern TZ team in the finals. That'd be 9 total TZs.
The original Left Shark. http://t.co/grrYkgU6KU
The '88 champion Lakers traveled the most combined time zones in this period--8 total (including 3 TZs vs. Detroit in the finals).
What's the best thing you've ever read about Stephen Curry?
I only checked the teams that made it to the finals from '84 on, so maybe I missed somebody. But what I found is...
I did some quick research and it seems clear that this is an unprecedented travel run since the NBA went to a 16-team format in 1984
Because you watch basketball all the time. You know the ins and outs. You don’t watch “journalism” all the time and aren’t familiar with it
Someone wondered recently: Is this the first time a team has played 3 consecutive playoff series vs. an opponent 2 time zones away? Hmm.
Mission for the Warriors is really to try and split in Houston, with the opportunity to close the series with Game 5 at home.
Game 2 in Atlanta tonight. Got an ECF Chai Tea Latte. Let's go!! http://t.co/yevPIHNLrO
Omari Grier to Rutgers, source confirms
Warriors say Marreese Speights is out for Game 3 with his moderate right calf strain.
You keep working and working never skip out on a bill and never stop grinding -- then one fine day http://t.co/qbuDwR4Ysc
For those asking, I would trade Noel + something for Towns. Lakers pick might be too much, but I'd seriously consider.
My excitement level for Noel as a prospect: 9. For Noel next to Embiid: 7.5. For Towns: 9.5. Towns next to Embiid: 10.
OK - Hawks T-shirts tonight. http://t.co/sLjZQbzN8G
Some of the same people who said Favors and Gobert couldn't make up for Kanter's defense are saying F/G can make up for Kaminsky's. Hmmm...
Here are the rules for the Mystics-Lynx scrimmage. http://t.co/Fhsn81vtx6
Within hours of Houston arrival, 2 different people assumed I'm here for the comic convention. "You're here for the game" never happens
I don't get fictional press conferences. Everyone shouts like dogfight spectators and suddenly a question is audible
Answers have been about 50/50, which makes it interesting. Intentionally not revealing my answer b/c I don't want to sway results.
All the people who think post-game pressers are of no value seem to be watching them.
Wait, Jahlil Okafor has a rottweiler puppy? I'm updating my big board as we speak.
Love it when people tell me all about post-game press conferences. people who have never been to one
Sad to hear that the greatest basketball dribbler of all-time, Marques Haynes of the Harlem Globetrotters, died today. Great man. RIP.
Also in that WNBA scrimmage: 20-second shot clock; shot-clock resets to 14 on offensive rebound. Here are rules: http://t.co/7AyJljM7RE
#Cavs at #Hawks: Both teams could be missing key personnel in Game 2 tonight on TNT. clevelandcavaliersblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/game-2…
WNBA's Mystics-Lynx to have "analytic scrimmage." Only 3s, shots in paint, extended low block count. Mid-range results in loss of possession
Warriors have canceled practice in Houston due to a delayed flight.
David Samson said he is disappointed no players turned out for team's community event last night. Some fans expressed anger on Twitter.
The 2 NBA teams from Washington and Minnesota shot the 3rd and 4th-most midrange jumpers in the league this season.
How many more lawsuits by the work force until we realize the NFL is a vastly wealthier, more legally protected coal mine in West Virginia?
Interested to see if GSW's plane delay shifts betting lines for the game
No practice today for the Warriors. A long plane delayed killed it. They'll be getting into Houston late tonight
Don Shula, Mike Holmgren among those accused of telling players they would be released if they did not take painkillers and return to field.
Note that Ted Leonsis being made available that day to discuss the Mystics analytic scrimmage.
Sitting on plane 2.5 hours after it was supposed to leave. How long does it take to finish toe paperwork @United?!This is absurd.
We're talking about podiums. Not the game. Not the game.
Mystics holding a scrimmage next week with an analytics bent. http://t.co/6JOx6i2fqa
Ted Leonsis will be available to the media before the scrimmage to talk about it.
In 2nd, there'll be modified pacing rules. 20-sec shot clock, shot clock resets to 14 seconds on offenseive rebs, 1 timeout per team, etc.
Mystics and Lynx are playing an "analytic scrimmage" Tuesday. Will be split into 2 10-minute periods. In 1st, midrange shots don't count.
When you really think about it, the explanations in rock-paper-scissors just don't hold up.
The Red Panda Acrobat's booking company, Tapley Ent., tells me they "hope that she will return this fall and will know in a few months."
LeBron played 2,500 minutes after reaching four straight NBA Finals. He is a machine. Like Jordan. Unfortunately, Rose & Noah are brittle.
So Derrick Rose played 1,100 fewer minutes than James Harden but he didn't get enough rest? This is really an argument?
James Harden played a total of 2,981 reg season minutes. Curry 2613, LeBron 2493, Jeff Teague 2228, Noah 2049, Rose 1530. Who rested more?
Why isn't the only story about Michael Sam that the Als have signed an ex-NFLer?
Some people are amazingly classy - thanks Bob, always good to see you too http://t.co/G8b0O5qUB6
Warriors flight out of Oakland delayed by a few hours mechanical problems.
New book on the history of @belfastStar64 being launched tomorrow. Looking forward to reading tales of basketball’s greatest club.
Seriously doubt Kobe will make anything set in stone in terms of his retirement before next summer. Too much can happen between now & then.
Used to be that if they said a guy was "running his team into the ground" it meant practice. Now we're talking actual games. World gone nuts
Are we now claiming that working hard is a character flaw? It's 82 friggin games. They're not digging ditches.
Where was Chicago media when Michael Jordan & the Bulls won 72 games in 1995-96? Why did they over-value the regular season. Means nothing
Check out the games played by Stephen Curry & James Harden. Why did they foolishly put so much into the regular season?
At Colonial golf. Jut watched Spencer Levin and Brian Davis play #13. Riveting stuff
And if the regular season doesn't mean anything, why are the final four teams the top two in both the East & West?
Warriors' team flight is delayed. But the unofficial media shuttle just landed. I guess I'll get in some extra shooting.
The way Michael Jordan ruled the East in the 90's, LeBron is doing that now. Derrick Rose and the Bulls just can't beat him.
Paul George, Carmelo, Bosh, Durant & Kobe all got injured and their teams missed the playoffs. Bulls had guys in & out of lineup and won 50.
Roger Brown would have been 73 today. Mel & Neto & Freddie & Slick & George never stop talking about him. Acutely missed#redwhite&blue
Conspicuously absent: 1. Phil Jackson 2. Dry ice 3. Woj (he had the results at 4 pm). That's it. Uneventful except for the Knicks dropping.
More United Airlines fun. Kicked us off plane so we can turn around and get back on. Claim will leave in 10 mins .though no one on board..
Most underrated names: 1. Mike Bresnahan 2. Mark Medina. 3. Jeff Zilgitt. Most overrated: 1. Chris Sheridan.
Dwight Howard probable for Game 3
The biggest names: 1. Stephen A. 2. Kiki Vandeweghe 3. Sam Presti. 4. Chris Mannix. 5, Rich Cho. 6. Ken Berger 7. Baxter Holmes.
Fordham offered 6-3 2016 PG Ray Jerome of the NY Jayhawks, per coach Jay David
For those who keep asking me about the scene in the actual NBA Draft Lottery room on Tuesday in Manhattan, here's the rundown.....(cont)
Been asked a lot. Royce White: "I will be flying, I never said I wasn't willing to fly." He flew w/ ISU, the Kings, etc. Non-issue, he says.
Nothing new on Kobe retirement. He's long implied this - his 20th season - will be his last. We may not know for sure until end of 2015-16.
Regarding Kobe, working premise has consistently been that upcoming season will be his last. But it's impossible to know for sure now.
I'm sure the picture of Nick Young and Jordan Hill rocking him back and forth in a giant rocking chair is a lasting image he can do without.
I doubt we hear anything official from Kobe until he does retire. He has said he doesn't want a Kareem farewell tour. http://t.co/wcyppMuOtB
The guy with the top 10 backcourts lost me at number one. Porter and Drexler?
Also have a podcast coming soon...
In Carson, CA today for another workout. Kevon Looney, Norm Powell & Ryan Boatright are the main attractions here.
Was exempt from jury duty in Georgia because I’m not a US citizen. What a country.
More fun flying United Airlines. Delayed an hour outbound so pilot could get seat cushion. Flight delayed indefinitely or canceled on return
2. Mitch has been saying things to signal the end of the Kobe era since Dwight left.
Two thoughts on Kupchak's statement about this being Kobe's last year. 1. That's not for Mitch to say. Until Kobe says it, it's open ended
Kupchak only said next year was Kobe's last with the Lakers...
Warriors GM Bob Myers, a Bay native, laughed last night when I said how weird it must be to have Barry Bonds & Roger Craig congratulate HIM.
Please don't take this the wrong way. But I really don't know how that 2006-'07 team won 67 games. I do know Dirk was in beast-mode that yr.
Unlike my integrated system, this Elvis actually works at IMS. http://t.co/agYJu82pEO
That last tweet was cross-publication old links w/ Mitch Kupchak saying exact same thing plus Kobe -- plan is this is last year for Bryant
Dirk, JET, Devin Harris, Josh Howard and Devean George started Game 1 in 2007, and Dirk, Josh, JET, Devin and DeSagana Diop started Game 6.
Mike not signing an extension and we know the plan..... Shhhhhhh haters try but they don't know http://t.co/ic1zd8hmSB
This is how Tim Duncan retires [Spurs training camp] Pop: "Where's Tim?" Parker: "I don't know" Splitter: "Tim?" Kawhi: "Oh" *scene*
When a team trades up, typically happens while draft is live, under tremendous time constraint - guessing in May what happens is kinda meh
That was just the 2nd home run Drew Jackson has allowed this season. Owls will face Southern Miss in an elimination game.
Wait a minute. Just saw Robin Ficker interviewed on TV as former attorney for Daron Wint. THE Robin Ficker. Think Cap Centre. Think heckler.
Dolphins CB Will Davis, off ACL, expected to be ready for start of training camp, Hickey tells The Ticket.
Latest Kobe news (likely to retire after the next season) is on par with Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead
To me, Russell, Clarkson, FA, Randle, FA is more intriguing than washed-up Rondo, Clarkson, FA, Randle, Okafor for Lakers.
We're headed to the 9th. Drew Jackson is back on the mound to try to finish his shutout.
How much does Kobe’s imminent retirement impact Lakers decision to take Okafor/Towns or opt for a potential star guard like Russell/Mudiay?
