Spurs lead Bulls 61-33 in Chicago. Yikes.
Bobcats are 1-8 vs. Southeast Division teams. Seven of remaining 18 opponents are Southeast teams, starting Wednesday at Washington.
Clifford's message is essentially he's holding players accountable for their mistakes in minutes distribution. Perform or sit.
Looking for a new book to read, Any recommendation?
Gerald Henderson believes he's a go for Wizards game.
Gerald Henderson getting in some one-on-one against Jannero Pargo post-practice. Sure looks like a go for Wizards.
Gerald Henderson looks good moving in practice. Steve Clifford says if he can play Wednesday, he will start vs. Wizards.
I have it on good authority that even if the Panthers cut Steve Smith, the sun will rise on Thursday.
Basketball should be the most intimate of the 4 big sports. That doesn't mean a college victory translates to running of the bulls.
1. Court-storming seems cute, but someone inevitably will get hurt badly. 2. Don't get why sportswriters rate legit vs. illegit "storms."
I suspect the senior tennis event Thursday won't do well. Pro tennis has an audience in CLT. Thursday of ACC tournament? Not so much.
Steve Clifford said Brendan Haywood still can't do anything weight-bearing on basketball court. Have to wonder whether he plays this season
Final: Bobcats 105, Nuggets 98. Seventh straight home victory.
Fans chanting "MVP" to Big al at the foul line. Not the intended effect: He misses both.
Josh McRoberts beats the shot clock with a 3. Eight-point game with just over six left.
Bobcats have scored 8 points in first 5 1/2 minutes of the fourth.
Bobcats' lead feeling a little shaky right now.
Kemba commits his 4th foul cutting off a Ty Lawson drive.
Bobcats have had multiple chances to put away Nuggets. Hasn't happened. 8-point game with just over 9 left.
Biz commits an offensive foul. Immediately Al Jefferson returns.
Veteran move by CDR in that fast break. He jumped into JJ Hickson slightly to force contact. Otherwise Hickson would have had a clean block.
Neal is 6-of-6 from field, 3-of-3 from 3 and 2-of-2 from the foul line.
End of third: Bobcats 79, Nuggets 68.
Gary Neal has 17 points and is 6-of-6 from the field. His season high is 23 with the Bucks.
Still a lot of time in this game, but you have to be impressed by how Bobcats have minimized Denver's fast-break and Ty Lawson's penetration
Cody Zeller with a really nice block of a Ty Lawson layup.
Halftime: Bobcats 51, Nuggets 45.
Ty Lawson steps out of bounds for Denver's ninth turnover. They committed a remarkable 27 last night in New Orleans.
3-seconds on Big Al.
Nuggets have 5 fast-break points in just under 20 minutes. I'd say this game is being played at the Bobcats' pace.
Biz pretty clearly got bumped under the basket. No call.
Kemba returns. Ridnour was 1-of-4, no assists, in seven minutes.
The reserves have extended Bobcats lead to 8, but that second-unit offense is tough to watch. Clunky.
Clifford told the Bobcats after Memphis loss they have no chance of succeeding playing spotty transition defense.
End of first quarter: Bobcats 25, Nuggets 22. Nuggets have ZERO fast-break points, which has to please Steve Clifford.
Al Jefferson with 9 points in 8 minutes. Mr. Mozgov takes a seat (maybe suffering from the spins?)
Bobcats so far containing Ty Lawson well off the dribble -- one of the tougher things to do in the NBA.
Mozgov with Jake Voskuhl foul on MKG. Right at the edge of flagrant, but not.
Bobcats not exactly packing the house tonight. http://t.co/fIMxDBXuFK
I'll always remember John Delong telling Zo (right after trade) that Hornets branded him a villain. What an interview that followed!
Nuggets coach Brian Shaw moved JJ Hickson to bench, told him, "You want your (starting) job, take it back. I'm not giving it to you."
I'd forgotten that Ty Lawson and Kemba Walker both missed the previous meeting in Denver.
Bobcats were bad Saturday in transition defense. If same tonight, they're cooked because Nuggets run so effectively.
No Gerald Henderson tonight (calf strain) but Steve Clifford is hopeful he can practice tomorrow and play Wednesday in Washington.
Nuggets lost an overtime game to the Pelicans Sunday night, now play 2nd of back-to-back in Charlotte.
Bobcats pummel the Pacers, beat the Cavs in a game with stakes, and drop a spot in Yahoo's weekly rankings. Head-scratcher.
The best enemy that we have to deal with?? is ourself! You deal with yourself you can deal with anything.. Good morning
Wasn't re-signed in Indiana, waived in Toronto with guaranteed $. DJ lacked self-confidence. That wasn't anyone else's fault.
I'm absolutely not knocking DJ Augustin. Glad he's found his way. But the idea he's been mismanaged or mis-coached is laughable. (more)
The last 10 minutes of "True Detectives" were really maudlin. Just didn't fit with rest of the season. Over-written. Disappointing.
Warriors saying to Suns, "Um, uh, not tonight!"
Suns up 12 at Golden State. Man, Hornacek can coach.
Nets beat Kings to widen lead for 6th place over Bobcats.
Good win by Raptors to stay ahead of Bulls for 3rd-best record in East. Chicago has to outright top them since Raps would win Atlantic.
Terrific finish looming between Raptors and Timberwolves. Lot at stake.
In a sense Davidson's loss illustrates why they'd move to Atlantic 10. One- bid leagues with tournaments define craps table.
Bobcats 1-7 this season vs. Northwest Division. Sole victory at Denver. Rematch with Nuggets Monday night.
Writing for Monday's Observer about Chris Douglas-Roberts. What a nice find; he's been the consummate pro in Charlotte.
Cliff Ellis headed back to NCAAs
And Cavs lose at home to Knicks.
So Dan Gilbert pulled an MJ at halftime with Cavs, saying "Let's get this one for Z!" (More)...
Hawks lose by 2 to the Clippers so Bobcats don't lose ground in the 7 seed spot.
Impressive weekend for the Cavs as they fight for their playoff lives.
Tough night! learn and get ready Monday..
Final: Grizzlies 111, Bobcats 89
I'm thinking Ed Davis' prospects aren't so bright as a Memphis Grizzly.
Chris Douglas-Roberts again reaches 12 points,. He's had three solid starts.
Jannero Pargo entering the game.
Zach Randolph working Cody Zeller over. Fifth foul on Zeller, who is 1-of-5 at the other end.
...Grizzlies shot clock, BTW
Steve Clifford keeps calling timeout. Not sure that anything changes. Might be a write-off night.
Luke Ridnour coming in to start the fourth.
End of third: Grizzlies 79, Bobcats 61
Bobcats are now 3-of-16 from 3-point range.
This one about to get away. Bobcats defense has left much to be desired.
Clifford is steaming mad in that timeout. Some language that is anything but G rated.
People have asked me how Clifford will use CDR once Henderson is back. Shaky as the bench has been, don't see that as an issue.
Zach Randolph just chucked Josh McRoberts with his off hand and was shocked he'd be called for an offensive foul.
Creative thinking by Josh McRoberts. Knows he's trapped so he flings the ball at backboard, grabs in his own "miss" and gets a layup.
Halftime: Grizzlies lead 52-44.
Bobcats cut deficit to one on Gary Neal's pull-up 3. Good read by Luke Ridnour in transition.
At no time in that last possession did the ball get closer than 20 feet from the basket. Ends with a Ridnour air ball. Not good.
Entire Bobcats bench cracked up over Biz's "crossover move." Guess they'll start calling him AI.
I asked Steve Clifford last night about Luke Ridnour's play. He said Ridnour is rusty; hardly ever played his last 3 weeks with Bucks.
End of 1st: Grizzlies 25, Bobcats 21,. Zach Randolph with 10 points off 3-of-4 shooting. Al Jefferson has eight on 3-of-7.
Zach Randolph might complain to refs as much as any player in the NBA.
Mike Miller is the only Grizzly not to miss a game this season. That would've been a long shot for sure.
Cody Zeller guarding Zach Randolph is one tough assignment.
Remember Steve Clifford's non-negotiable: Always get back in transition. The Grizzlies, not so much. You can run on them.
