Day 2 of Camp... keep working
Do you really think A's, relying on Sogard, Punto, Fuld, Norris, Vogt, Lowrie, etc., is "best team?" C'mon, they played well early.
My parents were English teachers. "Collapse" way too strong. "Collapse" would have been if A's failed to get into postseason.
I was born Sept. 26, 1964, near Philly -- amid Phillies' 10-game losing streak to miss postseason. I know collapses and this wasn't one.
A collapse is when a team with superior talent or in total control completely loses it. A's were nice team & made postseason.
You can't call what A's did a "collapse." They were WC team. Now, Dallas Mavericks in '07 vs. Warriors? That was a collapse.
Shooting, Finishing, Ballhandling, Passing, Footwork, Cutting.
Sometimes I really wonder about humanity. But oh well, I can block 'em and I do often frequently always constantly.
Moss: "I don't think anybody is going to look back on this game with regret. We gave it everything we had."
Moss: "We played the best baseball we've played in a while."
Tone in the A's locker room is just they just came up short. Nothing to hang their hats on
OK yes, fire everybody. Geez, those wonderful execs and managers in Colorado, San Diego, Houston and Miami might be available!
Now everybody a Royals fan on IG
C'mon man they have to get Perez a Translator man!!!!! Lol wow
Up 7-3 with Lester pitching into the 8th... and eliminated. That's a deserved loss.
Perez is so do for a big hit
Drunk or not, that guy's gotta get someone to look in on his dog if he ain't making it home.
This is unbelievable
It's Otero. Only threw 12 pitches last inning, I can understand this.
So it'll be Cook in the bottom of the 12th, right?
Runner on 3rd with 1 out. What does Callaspo do with it?
Good to have the squad together again. Day 1 ✅
Look at that. A's playing postseason baseball
KC has 6 stolen bases and 3 sac bunts. A's have 0 and 0. Hidden yardage!
The Royals have now had their lead-off hitter reach in four straight innings
Gomes replaces Coco and plays left, Fuld moves to center
Otero. My bad
Ryan Cook is in
That was outside, but surprised Moss took it since KC's been getting the edges all game
Coco grabbed his hamstring after fouling off the previous pitch. That last swing looked like he really hurt himself
The Royals have had the misfortune of Perez being at the plate when it was time to take the lead
I'm calling it. Here comes the walk-off
The A's back to swinging at everything, no being patient at the plate. They're feeling the pressure again
The Royals made that look so easy. Bloop single. Sacrifice bunt. Steal third. Sac fly home.
Going into extras, KC has already used its big three relievers plus Ventura.
Now that's great baseball
Dyson steals third. Tying run 90 feet away with one out.
Here we go. A bloop single and a pinch-runner who's sure to steal second base
Wow, nothing ruins this playoff atmosphere at my house with my two daughters like this 1-minute Viagra commercial.
And Lowrie swings at the first pitch after two walks in a row ... smh
Who on the A's is praying hardest for an insurance run right now?
Day 1 in the books
Two super-clutch strikeouts by Gregerson
Perez with a super unclutch at-bat. But another stolen base puts go-ahead run in scoring position with 2 outs
Melvin is sticking with Gregerson ...
It would be a fitting end for the A's to collapse after gaining such a big lead
Tying run now at second base ... Royals crowd back into it
A's don't wanna see Billy Butler
Tying run comes to the plate. Lester out. Gregerson in.
Fortunately for the A's, that isn't even challengable
I don't know ... that looked fair to me ... live anyway
That walk Josh Donaldson drew in 6th inning just as important as any of his regular-season clutch hits.
Take back everything I ever tweeted about Josh Reddick.
Lester up to 10 straight retired and getting stronger. No doubt, the 4-run lead helps
Coco Crisp, has been great today
Remember these A's?
Ned Yost bombed that decision. Bringing a starter into a completely foreign situation is backfiring like crazy
Fuld, who was doubled off early, had to be hurried along by Donaldson who was on his tail. Josh knew it was gone. Fuld wanted to be safe
Ventura, who started 30 games this year, looked waaaay to amped. Moss took advantage and CRUSHED another one
Donaldson lays off a close pitch and is rewarded with a walk. A's have runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs. Shields is done
Seven straight retired by Lester
Another good AB from Coco. His teammates need to mimic his approach - which is how they got the runs
Royals 72-1 when leading after 6 innings
Shield getting the calls ... he's hitting the edges well
More worried about Lester right now than Shields.
Meanwhile, shields has found a groove
Now the season rests on the A's offense scoring at least two more runs
One of the best postseason pitchers in baseball history looks frustrated and off his game - against the 14th best offense in MLB
This place is LOUD again. Bloop single gives Royals 3-2 lead
Lester is looking nothing like the postseason ace the A's had hoped for. 2-2 game
Twice the Royals have called for time. Both, Lester didn't see and went into his motion, only to be interrupted. Adding to his frustration
That's twice Fuld has turned a double into a single in left
Soto is out. Norris is in
Moss' liner down first baseline was caught and Fuld was doubled off at second. Missed opportunity for A's
back-to-back one-out singles by Fuld and Donaldson hushes the crowd. Shields up to 55 pitches
A's catch a break as Butler gets caught off first, which leads to the third out
Royals get one back as Butler rips a single to left. Would've been a double if not for Fuld's range
Six straight balls by Lester
Lester issues a four-pitch walk ... Royals fans feeling hopeful with 2 on and 2 out
