The way Beane operates has given the A's extra years as contender; it also might've screwed up last year and this one. There's always risk.
But I'll say that from the moment it happened I thought Dwight's hit on Iguodala was the dirtiest play of the series. By far.
Obviously everybody can and should be cynical about the timing of Dwight's suspension. So easy to do it now that the Rockets are eliminated.
Dwight Howard and Andrew Bogut double technical fouls rescinded.
If you want a prosecution, obviously I'm too meek and mild to do it. Or maybe I understand that this is how Beane has ALWAYS operated.
Dwight Howard foul on Andre Iguodala upgraded to flagrant foul 1. He will be suspended for the first game next season without pay.
What did Draymond Green say to get Mark Jackson choked up? "Thank you" Green adds: "Who knows where I'd be if he didn't give me a chance"
danger lurks at every meeting but what's the worst that can happen? http://t.co/zqlNYdJ08C
Text from friend & I agree: "H.Barnes stepped up vs. Rox. No metric or advanced stat can quantify importance/timing of some of his points."
Darn zoom effect gets me again. Oh well. Did my blurry best.
Let's try one that's in focus http://t.co/pXA1r1NAhx
Last night was special. Appreciate all the support from everyone, & especially my friends at Ronald McDonald House!! http://t.co/61mTUje8fU
I've told Lacob and Kerr that I could never find a photo of them together. Well thanks to ESPN I have one now http://t.co/VVgE9fSY37
Dwight Howard: "I want to continue to push myself to the limit and remember that no matter how the season ends, I'm still a champion."
Talked to people involved in the NFL, MLB + NBA the last few days, they all point out 1 thing: GSW players really seem to like each other.
Ron Bergman was an underrecognized titan, and it was an honor to be in his company. He passes with the best thoughts of all who knew him.
Sherman burned Atlanta, now shoots intercontinental missiles at Michigan State from Georgia.
Last Nelson: "He advised me occasionally when I was having difficulty with guys like you." (Laughs.) "He was just a wonderful human being."
Nelson: "He was a very honest reporter, wasn’t looking for an edge. He was a confidante..
Nelson referred to the times that Bergy sometimes acted as a strong liaison between Don and me. Yes, it did happen...
More Nelson on Bergman: "He was a dear friend and a wonderful human being. I really enjoyed his life and wish him well in the here-after."
Just spoke to Don Nelson about the passing of Ron Bergman. "I’m going to go light a candle for him right now," Nelson said.
And when GSWs sensed Hoiberg wasn't 100%, they wondered if he was headed to CHI--and if they should check on Thibodeau. Never got that far.
Steve Kerr was always Option 1 for the Warriors last summer. But when it looked like he was headed to NY, Hoiberg was the clear 1A.... AND..
"Wayward sportswriters" (his term) would stay at Bergy's house when in a time of need. I was one and will be forever thankful.
Ron Bergman wasn't just a hell of a sportswriter, he was a hell of a person. He helped me during one of my darkest personal times. RIP.
By the end of it, I was surprised my GPS didn't just say, "You know Bergy, you're right, take Geary here. You're too funny to be wrong."
My last best memory of Bergy is driving to a great SF restaurant and Bergy having a lengthy fascinating argument/conversation with my GPS.
Bergy made me feel honored to be in his profession. He also brought me to a lot of great restaurants. The 2 things are related, he taught me
Bergy said everything with a wink, wrote everything with twist, but he honestly meant this: "I just love being around sportswriters."
And throughout, he wrote thousands of bright, tight, hilarious stories... and told even better stories over dinner.
As a child, Ron Bergman was once saved from the water by Hemingway, as an adult he played cards with DiMaggio & laughed with Don Nelson...
Oops, that first Warriors-Cleveland game was actually Jan. 9. Raised GSW record to 29-5.
Mychal Thompson told Mike & Mike that Klay shut down 2-3 days. "Just sitting on the couch with his dog, Rocco, laying back relaxing."
ESPN First Take will be at Lake Chalet on June 4
Yes, Thompson returned to the game in that one. It was during LeBron James' winter sabbatical.
Wish I could've made at least one of the Riley Curry pressers, but my horrible deadlines make it impossible.
FYI: The Warriors are off today, will practice Friday and Saturday, and then are off again on Sunday.
