I don't believe firing Allen would give the Raiders extra time to do a coaching search. Because I wouldn't want McKenzie doing that search.
I'm not a proponent of quick coach firings, which generally don't fix anything. But sometimes the coach goes just because somebody has to.
Let's put it this way, Raiders management is doing nothing to shoot down the assumption that Dennis Allen is coaching for his job right now.
Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie politely declined my interview request today. Owner Mark Davis has not returned a call...

I asked Allen if that means he has talked with GM Reggie McKenzie, not necessarily Mark Davis this week, and Allen said: "Correct."
Asked if he's talked to Mark Davis this week, Allen said: "We have our normal chain of command in how we communicate & nothing's changed."
Dennis Allen on speculation about his job: "What matters is getting ready for the New England Patriots & that's all I'm going to focus on."
Derek Carr said several players have spoken to the team in recent days, including himself. He's definitely an emerging leader already.

Luke Walton uses his deep voice to read. The kids agree with Steve Kerr that his voice is scary.
Luke Walton said he grew up reading Berenstain Bears.
Steve Kerr said he reads every single night (novels and biographies) and is a great way for him to relax.

But maybe I'll check in with some top execs for the 49ers' official Visa disappearing act on any controversial matter.
Unfortunately, I'm going to miss today's 49ers official Sony media stonewall event.
I swear, I think some 49ers fans believe the Constitution protects their team's right to win football games. 49th Amendment?
Another one bites the dust! They coming for us...
Are schools now teaching kids that NFL eligibility is just as important as the court system? Really seems like it.
Due process as an NFL PR construct is absurd. And really, it's insulting to actual rights for people who actually are in court.
For the 1,000th time: Due process is a legal term, it is not relevant to whether someone plays a football game.
Peter Guber announced as Executive Chairman and Managing Director of the Oklahoma City RedHawks, the Dodgers' Triple-A team next season.
Maybe one of the 49ers' sponsors can line up behind the Ray McDonald PR spin. Call it the "Dignity Health due process dodge."
I've said this before, others disagree, but I believe: Trent Baalke runs all aspects of the football team and Jed York won't over rule him.
I was asked on live TV to go game-by-game through Nov 23. I had the 49ers at 7-4. From there, split with SEA, win the others, that's 11-5.
I'm focused man!!!
Festus Ezeli said he's made progress in getting the inflammation out of his shin. Fifteen months after knee surgery, he's itching for camp.

Last year's game was on a short week... 49ers' D destroyed Bradford & the Rams offense. This year it's regular rest, but vs. a better team.
This week's 49ers game in AZ reminds me a lot of last year's Week 4 game in STL, when 49ers were 1-2, Willis was out and VDavis was limited.

Emailer says I'm not qualified to write about football because I've never played/coached in NFL. Actually, neither has Goodell or Jed York.
I don't know how much longer we'll have independent journalism in the Bay Area, but I want to be doing it for as long as it exists.
When the issue got too big to contain--the Rice video--the NFL tried the same PR tricks and it wasn't enough. But they tried.
In a convoluted way, this exposed the NFL's arrogance more than anything: They figured everyone would buy their PR because so many always do
Personally, I still can't believe some great NFL reporters initially wholly bought the "due process" dodge in so many cases. Terrible.
Seeing a lot of criticism of the snuggly relationship between the NFL and some top reporters, which is worthy of examination...
This is a franchise that could a powerful, experienced, savvy president. But the Yorks for some reason have always resisted that.
Fans don't care, they only want wins. But if you ever want things explained, it won't be done by anybody in power with the 49ers.
49ers summary: GM hates talking publicly, owner almost never does it, coach does it but often stonewalls & the QB would rather never do it.
Where can I get box seats for this drake n lil Wayne concert
But if you know Baalke and Harbaugh, you know they ferociously refuse to ever do that. Jed York could over rule them but he never does.
I understand why outsiders ask if the 49ers' brass will bow to outside pressure on McDonald/domestic violence, but...
I've said this before: I think a segment of Raiders fandom loves losing, because it makes them even more separate from the universe.

You can misjudge draft picks, and McKenzie has. Misjudge talent, and he has. But to let Veldheer go with the tag available... Inexcusable.
Raiders had more money to spend than anybody, had the means to keep a young player at a crucial position. And then... just didn't.
Reggie McKenzie has made many of mistakes. This isn't the biggest, but maybe it's most bewildering: Why didn't he franchise-tag Veldheer?
The Raiders are not a place any player chooses if he has another option. If that doesn't change, they might never get out of this.
I don't think Gruden is necessarily a miracle-worker and I doubt he'd really come to the Raiders. But he'd definitely change the dynamic.
Coach Monty looks more fit now though
There we go coach monte williams out here trynna hoop!!
Hakeem Nicks look like young buck. I know someone said that b4
Illegal blindside block? Are we not playing football??
