Hembree is 25. If the Giants really believed in him, he'd have been pitching for them for a year by now. Maybe their error, we'll see.
If 400 IP this year + last year is mandatory for Peavy to get his $15M option next year--which looks to be true--he won't get it.
Looks like Peavy could be in line to get 11 more starts (if he pitches vs. LA tomorrow). Puts him right on borderline for 190 IP/$15M mark.
Peavy's ERA isn't a Fenway product: 3.59 at Fenway, 5.87 away from Fenway.
Peavy is a proven starter with strong Bochy ties and still only 33. Some bad luck this year, but a 4.72 ERA and 20 HRs allowed in 20 games.
Week long all star break??

All 3 Dodgers starters are on extra rest this series because of yesterday's off day. Very relevant tonight vs. Lincecum's irregular rest.
That was the single stupidest Tweet anybody has sent to be in the 2014 calendar year, and I do get many candidates.
And this one was after a 21-pitch relief outing only 2 days ago. (Also Lincecum's personal catcher had to leave the game.)
Crabs in a barrel...
Thanks for all the suggestions. Tried a lot of them. Still no sound. My dad is going to have to just bear with this unfortunately.
Can anyone explain why my day's HD TV suddenly only gets sound on a shopping channel and nothing else? I can't figure this out.
Brice Butler just snagged a high throw from Carr out of the air with ease
Schaub seems to already have some chemistry with Holmes
Of course that's Denarius
Denaryius Moore had a step on Taiwan Jones ... Until #22 showed off his closing speed for the PD
Did people not notice Eli Whiteside was wearing No. 22 for three seasons?
And by the way, yes, the Giants have reached the Uggla Stage of this season. Brace yourselves.
Last RT was for a friend. I almost never do this, but for this friend, I made an exception.
Just arrived at Raiders camp in Napa
I get it. Nobody is ever supposed to look analytically at anybody in sports. It's plain mean. I'll do it, anyway. Until I'm fired.
KMEL is on point w these throwback tracks
Must say that I was not expecting Adrian Gonzalez to preview the LA-Giants series exactly the way I was about to.
They're playing shawty remix on the radio? Can't sensor this enough
Raiders fans, would you get a grip? I didn't say Hayden would never play. I said the Raiders can't COUNT on it.
Stalker or nah?
Many Raiders fans still want to believe in Hayden. That's OK, I get it. You buy your tickets and want to believe in things.
There's a certain Raiders mentality--still out there in parts--that only accepts their reality, not the actual one. OK. But don't read me.
This was during a camp practice. Players could hear. All because I enraged a team official by stating the team's record the previous season.
Hoping a player is valuable in the future is not actually the same thing as the player being valuable.
In the same way, Marcus Lattimore's value isn't much right now. But he was a 4th-round pick last year, not #12 overall.
An NFL player's value is measured by what he can be counted on to provide today, in a month or four months. Hayden's value: Zero.

I'm only saying this because, w/Sherman popping off, I keep hearing "Crabtree had him beat." I looked at it again: No, he probably didn't.
Even if Kaepernick leads Crabtree by a few more feet, I think Sherman had that one timed out and still would've tipped it.
After my 200th viewing of the Sherman/Crabtree play... I now think Sherman had him covered & slowed down a bit because it was underthrown.
I don't block you if you disagree with me. I block you if you're obnoxious. No other reason. If you can't understand that, block yourself.
I didn't watch all of practice, either. Maybe the 49ers pass game is lighting it up now. I presume 49ers fans will be mad at me either way.
But I am NOT suggesting this is a problem. It's Day 1. They don't play for real for quite a bit of time.
OK, more detail on the 49ers passing game: From what I saw, in team drills, receivers weren't very open & QBs had to force the ball.
Joe Looney is getting first-team reps at RG in Alex Boone's absence.
So far, Kaepernick has gotten a ton of reps and as of yet the 49ers pass offense isn't looking so great. Obviously just Day 1.
49ers are still practicing, but definitely impressed by Jimmie Ward. Very, very active and can tell he'll be lively when they put on pads.
Don't be put off by fAilure. It's the only real path to success
That's not a criticism of Smith. If the judge is barely putting any requirements on the sentence, that's on the judge.
Interesting part of Aldon Smith's session: He says he hasn't started his 11-Monday sentence yet and will do it "the times I have free time."
Vernon Davis zen poetry: "I vaguely remember the things that I said. I can’t really remember at the moment.”
Jim Harbaugh zen poetry: "Our team is the least unhappy team I've ever been around."
Didn't realize I caught Harbaugh in a semi-glare at me in that snapshot. But everything is positive--that's what he said 5 or 10 times.
Harbaugh's first Levi's stadium presser http://t.co/9Be0xWTE0g
I'm in Santa Clara now, 45 minutes or so before Jim Harbaugh's first presser of training camp. Construction around Levi's on-going.
For lack of a better phrase lol

As I was asked on live TV last night... I would say the Raiders being improved but finishing last would be the likeliest outcome.
A lot of things could happen in any division. Nothing would shock me. But if you ask me the likeliest AFC West scenario...
Swat team or nah?!
I do think Goodell can be swayed by team management campaigning for a player, and 49ers management is all-in for Aldon Smith leniency.
The Goodell 2014 Suspension Progression? Ray Rice 2 games, Aldon Smith 1 game, Jim Irsay big smoochies and a bro hug. (/just a theory)
