Up to 35 guesses on who is second on Rockets in total blocked shots. No one got it (or cheated).I'm going to call it. K.J. McDaniels.
IZZO IZZO IZZO IZZO
Anyone know who is second on Rockets in blocked shots? Honor system. No cheating.
Harden does block an occasional shot, but he's third on the Rockets because Howard and Jones have missed more than half of the Rockets gms.
In the next sentence, however, Howard added, "That's what MVPs do."
Howard on Harden's late-game block. "I’m surprised he got up there. He’s not known for blocking shots." (Harden 3rd on Rockets in blocks.)
John Wall on the standings: "I don't care what seed you're going to be. You got to go into the playoffs having some momentum on your side."
Kevin McHale just dismisses game times. 12:30 p.m., 1 a.m., it doesn't matter to him. Just play basketball.
James Harden on consistency: "That is my job no matter what. When other guys are injured other guys have opportunities."
Marcin Gortat on if they lack focus: "I guess it is lack of focus."
McHale on the 12:30 start. "12:30 is not early. Is it early for you? What the hell do you do at night?"
Howard on struggling to find rhythm: Just a little bit. Its my 3rd game back so I'm not going to put all my energy into the negative things.
Kevin McHale: "Not the prettiest of games period. We found a way to win."
Since Dwight fell 71 seconds short of his 20-minute limit, he ought to get a minute or so tomorrow in Toronto. He won't. Howard to sit out.
Dwight Howard on James Harden's block of Bradley Beal: "I was surprised he got up there, that’s what MVPs do."
Rockets tied with Memphis for 2nd in West (Griz with tie-breaker) heading into Grizzlies at Spurs tonight. McHale: "I'm looking at Toronto."
Kevin McHale said Dwight Howard will not play at Toronto tomorrow.
McHale said Beverley probably won't be back. First time he put it that way, but decision has not been made.
Rockets pull off the 99-91 win over Wizards. They play Toronto tomorrow.
Pablo Prigioni was a solid 10 point and six rebound effort off the bench in 29 minutes. Nick Johnson did his thing in 16 defensive minutes.
James Harden with 24 points to lead six players in double figures for Houston.
Rockets win, 99-91. Move into a tie with Memphis for the No. 2 seed in the West. Memphis is at San Antonio tonight.
FINAL: Rockets 99, Wizards 91. Win number 50 is in the books! Harden 24-6a, Brewer 15p, Smoove 14p-10r. Good min for Prigioni, NJohnson.
I have no idea why Randy Wittman called a timeout. Just none.
Beal with the open three attempt to cut it to three.... no sir! James Harden with the block.
This game had to come down to missed shots. Prigioni missed the most wide open of dagger 3s. But Harden swats Beal 3 with 25.2 left.
Randy Wittman walked off last week while Wizards were still playing. This one has been so hideous I'm surprised didn't leave in 2nd quarter.
Dwight Howard has made three of his last four foul shots.
Wiz playing the Al Pacino clip from that football movie I can't remember the name of. Fans don't seem inspired. Wiz neither.
Lots of minutes for Nick Johnson today. Good for the Rockets to have him ready and able to to go in this upcoming stretch.
Stat monitor just came on, proving this game is hideous to look at in many ways. Saying Rockets are winning ugly would insult ugly people.
Fans in The District are taking it to the house with 2:41 left. Home team down, 93-83.
McHale really sticking with Nick Johnson on Wall. When Terry returns, Brewer likely will, too.
Pablo Prigioni is +15 and Nick Johnson is +9.
John Wall might be nearing a triple-double but he's -9 this afternoon in +/-
Harden has 24 in 32 minutes.
Pablo Prigioni with good hustle to get the loose ball after Nick Johnson got his shot blocked.
Wizards shooting 40 percent from the field this afternoon.
Rockets lineup: Johnson, Pablo, Harden, Ariza and Smith.
Howard takes a seat with 8 minutes left. Sources say he has played 16 minutes so far. Should be available for last four.
Give McHale credit. Sticks with Johnson and Prigioni & rewarded. Pablo hits a three & on a dribble drive, kicks it to Brewer for another 3.
With momentum going the wrong way, Pablo Prigioni pulls up and nails a three, then he finds Brewer for another three. Rockets back up 85-75.
Wizards effectively using the hack-a-everyone strategy.
The fans here get a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich because Nick Johnson missed two free throws. People are a little excited here.
Nick Johnson got a James Harden Call, he drives the lane and draws a foul.
Johnson and Prigioni have been pests on the defensive end today.
I've been here all day and it doesn't seem like John Wall is close to a triple double. But he is. 23-11-7.
McHale calls timeout, Wizards rolling now down, 76-72.
McHale going with Prigioni and Johnson again in backcourt to start fourth.
How many minutes would a five of Howard, Ariza, Brewer, Johnson and Prigioni have played together this season? They start the 4th.
Howard will check in for the fourth quarter. He's played 12 minutes thus far. On a 20 minute restriction.
Rockets went 5 of 23 in 3rd, but end quarter with Brewer going coast-to-coast. He's got 12. Dwight starting fourth with 8 min left on limit.
Floaters at the buzzer for everybody. This time it's Brewer. Awful quarter for Houston (5-23 shooting, 1-9 3P), but they're up 76-67.
Corey Brewer ends the 3Q with a layup at the buzzer. Rockets up 76-67 after 3.
James Harden with another end of quarter drive to the bucket. However a blocking foul gives the Wiz 2 FT with 3.7 left.
Wall dives for loose ball, gets it to Porter for a layup and draws Dorsey's 4th foul. Rockets pull Dorsey making Ariza (?) center.
Dorsey has 4 and McHale goes small bringing in Terry.
Wizards going with a hack-a-Joey. Just missed a pair of free throws.
Dorsey has 3 fouls, Howard with 3 fouls. McHale sticks with Dorsey because he has no choice upfront.
Can't wait to see the stats on the number of missed shots at the rim by Washington today.
Harden missing a ton of his usual looks in lane. I can't tell you how many he's taken or made this half, but unofficially a lot and a few.
Rockets closing out on Pierce, making him pump fake, take one-, two-dribble jumpers. He takes a seat shooting 1 of 6.
Harden ran into Marcin Gortat's shoulder on a screen. Tried to draw a foul, looked more like a soccer flop.
Wizards on a 7-0 crawl, cut Rockets lead to 8.
We've seen Paul Pierce pump fake James Harden several times today for either jumpers or making the extra pass.
Rockets with a 1 of 9 start to second half. Ball movement has slowed badly.
Wiz wake up force McHale to call timeout. It's 61-50 visitors.
Wiz acting like they slept in.
Rockets shot 58.5 percent from the floor in 1half. Wiz shot 37.2.
Rockets had just two buckets in the half that were not in the paint or from the 3-point line. That's one more than in all of Friday's game.
Dwight Howard limited to nearly 8 minutes due to 3 fouls.
Solid first half from Corey Brewer and Josh Smith. Combined for 22 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Wizards shot badly -- 16 of 43 -- in the first half, but Rockets also kept them out of the paint. Wiz just 9 of 20 in the paint.
Rockets 59, Wizards 46 at half. Harden w/ a rush late has 14. Smith w/ fast start has 12. Rockets owning paint, 32-18, with most bigs out.
James Harden ends the half by scoring on a drive. Rockets up 59-46.
Harden checks in and Terry is expected back.
