HoopsHype Houston Rockets twitter
Play Rockets ran a lot like the play I believe Blazers wanted to run with Harden in the Aldridge role. Lillard, obviously, went another way.
Rockets wanted the lob to Ariza, but Hollins kept Beverley from seeing anything. Harden got his shot off, but no good. Overtime.
Harden misses and we're going to overtime.
I know you can get a shot off in this amount of time
Not a bad look. Gay misses from 18 feet. Rockets have .9 left to shoot for the win. They know it has been known to happen that fast.
Rudy Gay misses and the Rockets call timeout with (get this) 0.9 seconds left.
With Rockets down 5, Ariza hits a pair of FTs then Harden hits a BOMB and it's all tied up! 20.5 ticks left.
James Harden can go right too. His cross and slam ties the game.
Playing with five fouls, Motiejunas draws a charge. That's turnover No. 22 for Kings, key to Rockets being within 2.
Ok. That alley oop from Darren Collison with the Derrick Williams finish was pretty nice.
Game tied for first time since opening seconds.
Joey Dorsey with a career-high five steals. And against his (briefly) former team.
Game hanging in the balance with Rockets down 8, James Harden starts the fourth quarter at power forward. Has already played 32 minutes.
Trevor Ariza's shooting slump is going on 17 games now. He's 1-9 tonight, 1-6 from three. Jason Terry also 1-7 from deep.
Besides obvious issues with players out, mins played by Rockets regulars has taken toll. Ariza, especially, has looked gassed. He's 1 of 9.
Daniels, hitting 23.5 percent of his 3s this season, promptly misses a corner 3.
10-0 Kings run, all started since the Rudy Gay-Pat Beverley scuffle.
Rockets try something different. Daniels checks in for Beverley. Rockets have not scored since cutting lead to 2, a 10-0 Sac run.
Beverley fouled Gay who shoved him up around the back of his neck. Beverley two-hand shoves back. Lots of good talk, too.
Of course Beverley's a part of that...
Black, Dorsey, D-Mo all with 4 fouls. It looks like McHale and Powell are unsure which one of them will go in first. http://t.co/glAq7LfSNx
And another, this time giving Motiejunas four. On a related note, Kevin Cutler is being paid by the whistle tonight.
Predictably, Dorsey picks up his fourth. Kings already in bonus.
Black picked up two quick fouls, has to sit with four fouls. Dorsey in with three fouls. Next up? Uh. Capela for a hack a Reggie?
James Harden making things happen right out of the gate. Rockets score 6 quick points in first 1:10 of 3Q. Timeout Sacramento.
Rockets give up fast break layup with Kings going length of floor in 4.2 secs after made basket. Sac up, 46-36, season-low for Rockets half.
REALLY poor close to the first half as Sacramento puts up 7 points in the final 43 seconds. Rockets have to feel fortunate down only 10.
Dorsey absolutely clobbered Reggie Evans. Motiejunas called for the foul. Maybe he reached, but Rockets all reacted. Motiejunas second foul.
Rockets might be tired in second half of a back-to-back, but these TNT time outs are long enough to take a nap.
Kings have featured videos of stars of their past during time outs. Now celebrating late, great Wayman Tisdale. Standing O for his family.
Rockets have had Harden, Motiejunas, Beverley in against very shaky Sac bench, but start 2nd q 1 of 7. Started 1st 0 of 7 so have improved.
Rockets did not look energetic early, hitting just 6-21 shots to fall down by 10 heading to the 2Q. Beverley the only Rocket shooting >25%.
Perhaps Kings and Terry knew what they were doing when they agreed to part ways. Terry 2 of 11 in two days in NoCal. Shoots better in Texas.
After having to go small last night, Rockets have to play Dorsey and Black together vs. Kings. Working about as well.
Terry hits an 18-footers and signals fans to boo him again. They obliged. "Terry sucks" chant grows louder.
Kings fans booing Jason Terry just seems silly. I mean, who could ever possibly dislike Jason Terry?
Rockets playing w/ no energy offensively. Nothing moving quickly. Tons of shots forced late in shot clock. They are 2 of 13 through 8 mins.
Kings fans OK with Joey Dorsey, who also stopped by for awhile, however.
Loads of boos for Jason Terry, the never quite was Kings player. Even boos as he brings ball up.
Mayor KJ visits with Trainer KJ before the game, showing again that Keith Jones knows everybody.
Sacramento Kings warming up in "I can't breathe" t-shirts.
If you saw Kyrie Irving land so awkwardly on that left knee, it's shocking that he's ready to go for the second half.
In addition to 5 Rockets out (Howard, Jones, Garcia, Papanikolaou, Canaan), Harden and Dorsey on injury report (back spasms) but will play.
Kyrie Irving putting weight on left knee as he leaves court. Horrible looking landing after contesting Westbrook jumper.
David Blatt on LeBron: "I don't think we're looking at any serious situation. Just general soreness."
LeBron James out tonight at OKC. Day to day
In beautiful Martinez, Calif., known of course as hometown of Jeff, Stan Van Gundy. It's everything Jeff said. (I assume. I'm on the train.)
LeBron game time decision tonight in OKC. Soreness in knee
How brutally tough is the West. Rockets are 16-5 with 1-gm losing streak. Fell to 5th, a half-game ahead of SA and Dallas, with b-to-b tmrw.
McHale: "We gave up 32 points in the fourth quarter. No one defended very well."
With the Warriors, when they go 'small ' they're really big. While GS spread floor and went to rim, length bothered Rockets on other end.
Warriors now with 14 straight W's. Kings should be easier - have really struggled without Cousins. They lost to, um, the Lakers on Tuesday.
That was a pretty impressive outing for Rockets despite the loss. You have to wonder how good this team could be in full health...
FINAL: Warriors 105, Rockets 93. Valiant effort from an injured team, but game slipped away late. Harden puts up 34-8-4-4, D-Mo 18.
9-34 from long range a bit of a dagger for the Rockets tonight. Not many nights you'll see Jason Terry go 0-5 from there.
Game slipping away from the Rockets, now down 9 with 2:45 left. Breakdown on both ends. Warriors playing strong defense.
Warriors have 20 points in the paint in the fourth quarter. Had 26 in first three quarters combined.
Warriors score on six-consecutive possessions, all on drives to lane. Rockets take 3s on 4 of 5 possessions in that stretch, a 13-3 GS run.
That said, Klay's still getting his points...
On a night where Klay Thompson has been off, Harrison Barnes has been so steady. 20pts now on 7-9 shooting, including 3-4 from distance.
Most Valuable Beard.
