Holy crap! "Verified" Billy Zabka just favorited my Tweet about Billy Zabka!!!This is freakin' amazing! AK
By the way, it’s incredibly easy to be highly critical of Kobe when you’re an anonymous source in a one-sided article.
The unfortunate truth is Kobe will already be retired before those people finally appreciate his greatness and that’s a damn shame.
Former/current players and coaches respect Kobe, his accomplishments and what he’s done for the game. That’s really all that matters.
Y’all talking about how Pau “never won a playoff game” w/o Kobe are doing an awesome job anti-recruiting next year’s FA class, too. AK
On a legit contender w/Kobe in his prime, easier to reconcile. Kobe at 36, weak supporting cast, franchise in flux, less appealing. AK
A lot comes w/being Kobe’s teammate, esp. as an All-Star. He rides you. Nothing will ever be quite good enough by comparison for fans. AK
On a good team w/Kobe in his prime, his demanding nature & aura likely more palatable. Now, I imagine less so. That's just being honest. AK
Insofar as Kobe's ability to lure FA's, we never got to see the true test: Kobe in his prime, on a good team, with cap space. AK
Warriors are delivering my media packet to San Jose. Some NBA teams' PR staffs wouldn't even pick one up and hand it to me off a table.
Well-connected analytics guru told me Lakers are only NBA team acting like they don't know his company exists. Time to move out of 1985.
Chilly and damp in San Francisco. Shocker.
I have just seen the next generation of tech for all sports. Stay tuned...
Lakers have waived Jeremy Tyler and Keith Appling
Clippers are staying at same San Francisco hotel where they were when the Donald Sterling tapes became public. It isn't Motel 6.
Chris Douglas-Roberts was going to give his sprained left ankle a go in practice and if he came out OK play Tuesday versus Warriors.
“We are all surrounded by idiots” - Kobe.
Slava Voynov has been suspended indefinitely pending an investigation by the NHL of an arrest this morning on charges of domestic violence.
"You are a really big idiot if you manage to f--- this up." Words to live by. For Julius Randle and everyone else.
One thing I've been struck by in last few days... Jazz personnel LOVE Carlos Boozer. Clashes with perception among fans, who soured on him.
Tell us how you really feel, Kobe.
Kobe: "We're going to be smashmouth basketball. That's just how we're going to play. It's going to be nasty, it's going to be physical."
Kobe: "Who do we have out there that's going to handle the ball? Ronnie Price, God bless his heart, was like the Energizer Bunny out there."
Kobe: "We're a grind it out team. Our personalities are just that way. We all put our hard hats on."
Kobe: "ESPN are idiots but you're a really big idiot if you manage to f--- this up."
Kobe on Julius Randle having him and Byron Scott as mentors: "It means he can't f--- it up. If you f--- this up you're a really big idiot."
That message obviously has gotten through to Randle, who had said earlier on same topic of having mentors: "It's up for me to mess it up."
Scott was very pleased with Randle’s play in the second half, praising him in his presser. Wants to push Randle to get that every night.
Byron Scott on Julius Randle: “Obviously he has it in him. He has a world of talent. It’s about him (doing it consistently).”
Byron Scott said the halftime talk was all about defense, playing “on a string,” and was pleased w/effort. Jazz = 37 2nd half points.
PA man Lawrence Tanter with a slip of the tongue, says Lakers play Kings in Sac on Friday. Fortunately it's still in Vegas. Phew.
Lakers win! Lakers win! A preseason game.
FINAL: Lakers 98, Jazz 91. Kobe Bryant with 26 points and Carlos Boozer with 19 points.
LAKERS WIN! THEY WIN! THEY WIN 98-91!
I understand the symbolism, but if you are sitting in the lower bowl at Staples Center do you really need *free* tacos?
LAL in this 2nd half have outscored Utah 57-32. Much better effort defensively than the 1st half or last 3 games.
Looks like the Lakers are going to earn a win. Normally we'd say, "Meh, Utah. Meh, preseason." But the way things have gone, they'll take it
Ronnie Price again making a play on D, his third drawn charge of the game to get LAL possession w/1:33 left, up 93-86.
LAL get a corner 3 off a nice extra pass from Wesley Johnson, and take a resulting 91-85 lead. LAL 4 for 13 from 3 tonight.
Julius Randle, Running Back for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Impressive again from the 19-year-old Randle in this 2nd half. This time a board, sprint w/ball in transition to get Ellington 2 FT's.
Ed Davis is getting good looks in the paint, here taking advantage of a mismatch w/Steve Novak, and is 3 of 4 for 6 quick points.
Like seeing Kobe, Randle, Johnson and Davis get some minutes together here, with youth and athleticism around Bryant.
