Got to thank God for everything.
I'm a pelican, ya gotta let me fly!
By the way, good call on picking the cover subject for last night's game program: http://t.co/l5glFC3hG1
Melvin Ely on why Tyreke Evans is a tough matchup: "He has a football player’s body, a track star’s speed, and he can handle the ball."
Tyreke Evans broke franchise record for points in a half last night by scoring 32 in 2nd half. Previous best was David West 30 in a '08 game
Monty Williams with extraordinarily high praise in describing Tyreke Evans' 41-9-8 game: "It was a Magic Johnson night."
Anthony Morrow on Tyreke Evans (41-9-8): "It was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen from a teammate in my life. He put on a show."
Pelicans only had 10 players (including two they've signed since Friday), but Tyreke Evans' 41-9-8 line lifts NOLA to 101-89 upset vs. OKC
Darius Miller puts the finishing touch on a great Pelicans upset with a steal and breakaway dunk. NOLA up 100-89 with 15 seconds left
Evans so far-- 41 pts on 26 shots, 9 rebs, 8 asts, 3 steals, 1 TO. His fellow starters are all 2nd round picks and replacement level players
Babbit FOR THREE! Huge ball right there following the Durant trey.
Good luck Derek Fisher stopping Tyreke Evans tonight one-on-one. Another great move by Evans gives him 41 points
Tyreke Evans has a new career high with 37 points. He reached it by draining a straightaway three-pointer
Tyreke Evans, I think I love you.
Tyreke Evans (30 points) has the 11th 30-point game of his NBA career. His career high in scoring 35 points, set with Kings in Jan. 2011
Nice to see Morrow follow with a triple, but I'd like to get another look at that "block".
That was a huge swing right there. Instead of a dunk and a 5 point dif the Thunder block/goaltend it and take it the other way to make it 1
Scratch that. Tell me in about 30 minutes. I prefer him missing in action until then.
Who is number 35 and what did he do with Kevin Durant?
I think this is the Tyreke Evans that was supposed to lead our second unit this year and finish games with the starters.
I like the way Jeff Withey almost always takes the ball extremely strong to the basket. He's been going for dunks often lately
Tyreke Evans is 8-for-16 from the field through three quarters, staking Pelicans to 70-69 lead over OKC. All eight Evans baskets are layups
Durant just took his first free throws of the night. He averages 9.9 per game so far this season.
Pelicans started off 3-8 from the 3-pt line. They're just 1-12 since.
Caron Butler? Cmon...
OKC having major trouble trying to keep Tyreke Evans (16 points, 10 free-throw attempts) from getting to rim. He also has 5 assists
Tyreke Evans has done a great job getting to the hoop tonight. Pels would be in trouble without him, especially with Rivers out.
Great hook shot there by Withey.
Pretty impressive defensive play by Alexis Ajinca to strip Kevin Durant, even though they called a foul on Ajinca, his 4th
Tyreke Evans is so eager to lead fast breaks that he was upset Derek Fisher's airball meant OKC shot-clock violation. Wanted to push ball
Anthony Morrow starts the 2nd half in place of ejected Austin Rivers. May need a big 2nd half from Morrow, but he's done that a lot lately
Odds that Durant has another half without scoring double digits?
Thunder lead 46-45. Pels had just 5 turnovers 6 personal fouls. They'll need to keep playing smart ball to pull this one off.
I asked my buddy how he was gonna handle having his 4th kid... This was his answer
Great job running the floor there by Tyreke. If you're looking for two reasons the Pelicans are still in this one they're Tyreke and Ajinca.
The blood moon is apparently causing some problems internally.
Can you do the thizzle dance?
Keep in mind Tyreke Evans was late add to lineup. Didn't look good physically in shootaround. Pelicans don't have another point guard left
Austin Rivers and Nick Collison both ejected for what was termed "fighting fouls." Tyreke Evans will have to play a lot of point guard
Instead of double technicals, players should rock-paper-scissors for who avoids it.
Luke Babbitt 8-for-14 on three-pointers since getting big minutes last week vs. Suns. He's coming off career-best 24-point game at Houston
You really gotta give Babbitt some credit-- he has great hair.
Note to Austin Rivers-- If the shot clock is winding down you don't EVER give the ball to Melvin Ely unless he's within 3 feet of the hoop.
Austin Rivers (8 points) off to good start again tonight vs. OKC. He averaged 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists in his 2 weekend starts
Pelicans threw up 9 three point attempts in that first quarter. They average only 15.8 per game on the season.
Some good ball movement there by the Pels. Love the bullet pass from Babbit to Aminu. Kinda surprised he held on.
Melvin Ely begins 2nd stint with New Orleans by throwing down dunk. He was smiling at scorer's table; they used same audio clip from '07-09
Any else feeling a bit nostalgic watching former Hornet Melvin Ely on the court in New Orleans?
FYI Serge Ibaka needs total of 17 blocks in tonight's game and Wednesday vs. Detroit to surpass Anthony Davis for No. 1 in NBA in average
Pels appear to be content to let it fly from downtown tonight. Probably a good move since Evans is doing a good job penetrating so far.
Darius Miller was a very reluctant shooter as a rookie, but is showing much more aggressiveness. Already taken 6 shots in 8:20 of action
Thunder have had solid ball movement so far. All six of their buckets have been assisted.
Alexis Ajinca shows his above-average mobility for a 7-2 guy with a dribble drive and massive dunk past and over Kendrick Perkins
AJINCA WITH AUTHORITY!
What are you looking forward to seeing from the Pelicans in tonight's game? Southerland- Durant? Melvin Ely's glorious return?
Scratch that. Evans is in. He's warming up.
