This new starting lineup has allowed Melo to work more off that horns set or from the top of the arch in high pick & roll action.
Really nice pocket pass from Melo. He is an underrated passer.
So the DJ at the Garden is scratching with a sneaker on his hand. Ladies and gentlemen, the World's Most Famous arena.
Knicks scored 4 points with Melo on the bench the first 4-plus minutes of the second.
mar'e could not name 10 Michael Jackson songs in 24 seconds. Going to see if he can name 3 GM's Knicks have had since he arrived.
Knicks up 15 on Jazz. Nets down 15 to Celtics. Knicks fans should enjoy the moment.
Fan was right: Amar'e, somewhat shamefully, only named 6 Michael Jackson songs in the 24 seconds. Sad, Amar'e. Sad.
Jumbotron competition here at MSG: Fan had to guess whether Stoudemire could name 10 Michael Jackson songs in 24 secs. Fan guessed no.
Got the impression talking to Amar'e before the game that the Knicks are distractioned-out. Nothing can affect them at this point.
Knicks score 39 in 1st quarter after scoring 38 in 1st last game - Phil Jackson must be getting excited.
Melo scored 18 in the first quarter, Knicks up 39-22.
Knicks ring up 39 in 1st quarter, Melo with 18 of them, to lead Jazz by 17. Knicks shot 70 percent.
Melo flu game?
A bunch of people I tweet with said for weeks that they though Stoudemire in the starting lineup might work. I really didn't, and was wrong
Granted the competition hasn't been great, but this starting lineup has played really well for 3 or 4 straight games now.
Marvin Williams is not enjoyable to watch.
Whaddya know? A team actually seems prepared for the elbow jumper from Melo to start the game, and they get a stop. Novel concept.
Bennett Salvatore and Dick Bavetta working Jazz-Knicks at MSG. Not a young officiating crew tonight.
FWIW, the National Anthem singer was great. Could tell she'd studied Whitney Houston's version of it a ton.
Incidentally, the anthem singer just killed it. One of the best I've heard in a long time. Nicole Vanessa Ortiz of Newark. Nicely done.
It's just one fan screaming at Dolan, but might be a sign that not all the fans buy into the one win changing the season for Knicks.
Someone yelled "Fire Dolan!" really loud right as this girl was about to start singing the National Anthem here at MSG.
In the brief, quiet lull before national anthem started, a fan yelled, "Fire Dolan!"
Oh boy, silence for the anthem and a loud scream of "Fire Dolan." Ah, the guy wasn't going to enjoy the game anyway.
The real plus of the Knicks recruitment of Phil Jackson is it that Berman right now is typing, "Take that, Masai Ujiri."
*files opus on how I've got 28,000,000 questions on Phil Jackson and whether he'd even be helpful for the Knicks*
I'm not sure how Phil can turn this down. Mick Foley is here tonight at MSG.
I spotted Mr. Dolan exiting his vehicle inside MSG. He appeared to be smiling. Jovial, even.
Just passed Mr. Dolan getting out of his car. Yes, it was a car, not a bus.
Carmelo was not made available for pregame interview. He was requested.
Woodson: "I really don’t have an opinion on it. I really don’t. Again, as I sit here today I’m the coach of the New York Knicks."
"Sure, Phil, Melo is still here."
If I did meet with Phil, I probably wouldn't mention the roster, cap situation or lack of draft picks. "It's just like you remember, Phil!"
Understand Woody's in a tough spot, but saying "It's you guys writing it," is kind of silly. I confirm, no media met with Phil and offered.
This is the 17th time that Mike Woodson has called himself the coach of the Knicks. No one from management has said anything since October.
Mike Woodson: "I'm the coach of the Knicks." So that settles that.
Woodson on reports Knicks met with Phil about job, "I really don't have an opinion about it. I'm not going to entertain anything about Phil.
Woodson said he's not talking about Phil Jackson.
And it's time for Woodson to step to the podium. Should be a fun one for him. http://t.co/IDTSmyZhyX
Pat Williams sharing some great insight on the Magic, Dwight Howard on WFAN right now.
For strong leaders, I really think the Knicks should try to land either Pat Riley or Donnie Walsh. I wonder if they've ever dealt with them.
Noah can tell Melo: "You guys are so bad that the NBA gave up NY and CHI markets for the Indy and OKC ones."
Knicks-Bulls, so awful last Sun, booted off ABC for April 13 rematch in NY. Goes to 7:30, no national TV. OKC at Pacers gets 1 pm ABC spot.
That sounds like it happened in a playful way out in Minnesota. Love and Chandler are friends from the Olympics.
The Knicks should be reaching out to Jerry West.
Meeting with a Phil while Woodson is still on the job is messed up. No matter what you think of Woodson that ain't right.
The word was that Mike Woodson didn't exactly trust the folks in Knicks front office...and that was before they met with Phil.
I do think there's a chance Phil joins Knicks in some capacity. I heard Wednesday that the Knicks were up to something. Maybe Phil is it.
Phil Jackson is a smart, savvy guy. But believe me, he has no idea of what he might be getting himself into. No idea whatsoever.
Wonder if this is the "consultant" role that Knicks handed Glen Grunwald when he was fired, I mean, reassigned. "Go tell Woody he's done."
The next time Mike Woodson sees Steve Mills it is going to be real awkward.
I definitely see a scenario where Phil Jackson runs the Knicks. Why not give him a try. But coaching? His heart is not in it anymore.
FYI: the Phoenix Suns don't have a celebrity GM or an established head coach. Just two smart guys.
How much money (that will be passed onto the consumer) is enough to convince Phil Jackson to come to MSG? I'm guessing...a whole lot.
If Phil Jackson does take Dolan's money he'll leave as a legend...or in stretcher like Larry Brown or in a wheelchair like Donnie Walsh
I'm guessing Knicks met with Phil Jackson with option to both coach and run the team. Stephen A. says Phil said no to coaching. As for GM...
Of course, Phil was last seen advising Pistons ownership to hire Mo Cheeks and that experiment ended after 50 games.
That said, I do believe the Knicks would hire Phil Jackson to run the team. In a heartbeat
But I'm sure that Phil thought the chance to coach Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant AND Raymond Felton is tempting.
And didn't Phil Jackson kill the Knicks roster? Before this season no less.
But Phil Jackson is a big name, the Knicks will win the press conference and ultimately that's all that matters to them.
Knicks go after Phil Jackson despite him saying repeatedly he has no interest in coaching and proving just that his last year with Lakers.
I'm assuming Steve Mills also told Phil, "You can be GM, too, because I don't want any part of that."
It's not like Mike D'Antoni is coach for life with Lakers. Maybe time for Jim Buss to admit his idea wasn't so great.
As a Phil to NY rumor - would be great for Knicks, but I suppose Jeanie Buss might have something to say about it.
As news that Mike Woodson won't be back? Yes. And the sun rose today.
So today's rumor of the day - ESPN reporting Steve Mills met with Phil Jackson. A couple things...
