HoopsHype Toronto Raptors twitter
Raptors have had a lead (or tie) for 75:37 of 96:00 (roughly 78%) over their last 2 games, both losses.
Only 2nd time Raptors have lost 3 straight in last 14 months. They go 1-3 on trip, still 4-3 during stretch of 8 straight vs .500+ opponents
Jack is right: not a great night but Raptors don't cheat. Would have been an easy one to mail in, they did not.
Not sure the Raptors have taken an uncontested shot in the 4thQ
Lowry with a couple bricks from 3, both early in clock, down the stretch. He's now 2-for-9 from distance on the night, 6/35 over last 5 gms
I think Richard Jefferson goosed Bennett Salvatore there.
Two nights in a row Raptors half-court offense has come apart in 4th and D goes soft.
Raps have turned the ball over 4 times in 6 mins to begin the 4th. Mavs have 26 pts off Toronto's 17 TOs overall. Mavs 17-7 in 4th, up 7
Raps up 77-74 after three. DeMar has 18 to lead all scorers, but just four from the free throw line. Not exactly attacking, but ...
Raps lead is 3 going into 4th. Another rough shooting night for Lowry/DeRozan, combined 11-for-30. Lowry 2/7 from 3, 6/33 over last 5 gms
Monta Ellis has the best death stare at an official. He held that last one for about 12 seconds.
Jonas picks up his fourth and he has to sit down with 4:09 to go in the third. That could hurt.
Lowry calls timeout like only a good Canadian would: "Timeout Toronto, eh?" All that was missing was the 'Please.'
all 5 Raptors literally standing stiff....as Ellis simply runs open, gets an open 3, and nails it. TOR up 11...now on top by only 5. Q3
Amir got up for that last one. He must have found a piece of tape for that ankle.
DeRozan/Lowry were both wearing red sleeves on their right arm in 1st half (not a regular thing for them). Neither have it on to begin 2nd
Amir does seem a bit gimpy to begin the 2nd half, seems to be favouring his left ankle. Playing through it.
Amir is limping. It appears to be his left ankle, but like Amir, he's playing through it.
Amir played just 2 minutes in 1st half after picking up 2 quick fouls. Casey stuck with Hayes/Pat/JV in 2ndQ but he's back out to start 3rd
Can't blame anyone for thinking the worst. This is looking a lot like last night in New Orleans.
DeMar with 11, Jonas and Kyle with eight each to lead the scoring.
Raps by 6 at half. DeRozan w/ 11, JV/Lowry have 8. Both teams shooting 48%+ (Raps at 53%). Raps 5/12 from 3 after going 9/41 over last 2 gms
Raps maintain lead at half, up 55-49 but it looked like it was going to be much bigger. They did have the final bucket of the half.
Raptors 13-point lead has shrunk to 4 in just under 3 minutes. 11-2 Mavs run. Timeout Toronto.
Control is fleeting in this game. Raps were up 11 a minute and a half ago, now lead is down to four.
4 possessions, 4 straight turnovers for the Mavs. They've committed 10 in the game, 6 in first 6 mins of the 2nd Q. Raps lead up to 9
Hayes held Amar'e scoreless on 1 shot in 8 minutes. Still in the game, guarding Chandler with STAT on the bench
It's the second quarter and Chuck Hayes has more minutes tonight already than in all but three games since Dec. 1.
Raps bench had 38 points combined over last two games. At full strength, they're already at 17 early in the 2nd Q tonight.
5 turnovers are in issue but overall solid Q for the Raps, up 4 after 12 mins. DeRozan with 7, Lowry/JV 6 apiece. Mavs 1-for-7 from 3
Weird quarter. Raps up 29-25. No one really established anything. A lot of back and forth, lot of Raptor slips.
Casey on shot selection pre-game: "Whats a good shot for one guy may not be a good shot for the next guy & that's a learning process for us"
First-quarter PT for Chuck Hayes
Odd start for JJ, slipping and losing his dribble a couple times. Responsible for 2 of the Raptors' 4 turnovers in 5 minutes
Two quick fouls for Amir means early action for Patterson in his return. Mavs up 8-2 in opening minutes
Raptors when DeRozan scores 20+: 16-3. Lou 20+: 11-2. Lowry 20+: 14-11
Patterson (knee) will play tonight in Dallas
The minute a big-time athlete -- other than a pro wrestler -- begins musing about movie stardom I see red flags.
That was the most feel-good press conference I’ve seen since the last time the Leafs brought out their latest saviour.
"He’s graduated from McDonalds and Taco Bell. You understand the pitfalls, the highs and lows,” - coach Saunders on KG.
“I’ve never thrown anyone in a toilet or trash can, I don’t know where y’all get these stories from.” This is the greatest.
Dwane Casey has told us a few times he can’t see KG or Gary Payton ever becoming a coach.
“Think you want to be a coach one day? KG: “Heeeeell no. A coach is what I won’t be … you can’t pay me enough to coach."
“I figure if LeBron can go home, then, shit, why can’t I?” - Kevin Garnett
“I’m happy to be here. Sam Mitchell is here the gutsy veteran who I give credit to my whole career” - Kevin Garnett on coming back!
Brampton’s Tyler Ennis only played 58 total minutes with Phoenix. Has played 53 in three appearances with Bucks so far.
Some need more knowledge with their zeal. Some need more zeal with their knowledge.
But again that’s not my issue, it was not giving him rest instead of playing 11 or 12 straight minutes at times.
For those not believing JV was tired and that’s why he didn’t play late angle, it is true. He still ran 2.41 miles, most on team last night
The main issue last night for me, was over-playing guys. Didn’t give them rest when they needed = nothing in tank in fourth.
It doesn’t help the staff when Lowry and DeRozan go rogue though.
I’ve praised Toronto’s coaching staff many times this year for doing a strong job. They coached a poor game last night. It happens.
Pelicans (Ajinca and Co.) shot 10-for-13 at rim against Amir Johnson. That’s horrific D. Just 4-for-9 against Valanciunas.
BTW, having watched Lowry drive on Asik again, I don't think it was a foul. Lowry jumped into a stationary, vertical player.
Updated Lou Williams watch: Raptors are 19-6 when he scores > 15.2 points (his average), 18-13 when he does not. 10-2 when he's above 20.
The Raptors have taken the 9th-most 3s, and despite only being 16th in %, they are 4th-ranked offensive team in league.
Of the nine top teams in 3PA this year, none of them are in bottom half of offensive rankings. Lowest is Rockets, who are 13th.
