Saturday, May 11 What did Russell tell Ennis about the Jazz? "He said they have a good team -- a good team to play for."
Long Beach's James Ennis worked out for the Jazz. Knows Bryon Russell: "I have his number. We communicate a lot. He gives me good advice."
Nice column by @Brad Rock: "It wasn't just basketball for Jazz's Harrison, it was entertainment" desne.ws/oaFQ8Nk
Angry Birds has helped me bond with my kids. On Jazz's last road trip, my 4-year-old asked: "Dad, when you come home can I play your phone?"
You know it's pre-draft workout time when Jazz VP of player personnel Walt Perrin's director chair gets brought out. http://t.co/dra8QlOK2e
Correction: Myck Kabongo and family immigrated from the Congo to Canada when he was six. Lives in Toronto. My apologies.
Colton Iverson says transferring after 3 years at Minnesota for 1 year at Colorado St. was "high-risk, high-reward" strategy that paid off.
Jazz staff not made available to the media, but I did see Jeff Hornacek. Wish I could ask him about Philly, Charlotte, Phoenix jobs but ...
Players working out for Utah today include PGs Myck Kabongo (Texas) and Nate Wolters (South Dakota State). And it's "Mike," not "Mick" ...
Arrived a little early for Jazz pre-draft workout today. Bumped into Jerry Sloan, who was on his way out. Must have been asked to watch ...
Want to know the real face of the Jazz? Hint: He has facial hair. m.deseretnews.com/article/865579… #jazz
Fouls: LeBron James 12 in 268 minutes during 7 playoff games so far. Michael Jordan 13 in 250 minutes in six games during 1998 NBA Finals.
You all have some great moms! Go to facebook.com/nba.paulmillsap for another chance to win. Instructions on my page. Announce winner at noon
With only 36 hours between Games 3 and 4, I'm thinking Popovich sends Duncan and Ginobili home to rest for Game 5.
You know all that money Jarrett Jack made himself this season? He just gave some of it back in the final two minutes.
That's strange: Andrew Bogut was a better free-throw shooter at the University of Utah (.673) than he has been in the NBA (.572).

Friday, May 10 Thought third fouls on Boozer and Belinelli were very tough calls. Battier flopped and LeBron just ran through Belinelli ....
Trivia: Jazz took Nazr Mohammed in the first round of 1998 draft but immediately traded him to Philadelphia for future first-rounder.
I thought it should have been personal on Nazr, technicals on James and Nazr and play on ... Just my opinion.
Fully expect Warriors to play better in the 4th quarter at home. Spurs' challenge: keeping Game 3 closer than Games 1 and 2.
I'm giving away 2 massages to @premierspautah for Mother's Day at noon tomorrow. Reply with why your mom deserves a massage. #SupportUtahBiz
Quick check tell us 6 players Jazz are bringing in Saturday are probably second-rounders. Pre-lottery, Utah owns 14th, 21st and 46th picks.
... G Myck Kabongo (Texas), F Mike Snaer (Fla. St.) and G Nate Wolters (S. Dakota State). Jazz staff won't be available to media. Strange.
Jazz to work out 6 draft prospects Saturday: F James Ennis (Long Beach), F Jamelle Hagins (Fla. St.), C Colton Iverson (Colo. St.) ...
Tomic is very experienced not a lot more development for 26 year old player. If he plays for Jazz largely will fall on his desire 4 nba
Most evaluators think Tomic upside is a third big. Not a shot blocker plays back to basket good passer about 10 to 15 foot range.
However, Tomic would be far more expensive. Would need buyout with current European team and contract with Jazz.
Jazz draftee Ante Tomic played very well in Euro league final 4. Some think he would be 5th big taken in this draft around pick 16 or so
Among Jazz pre-draft workouts (left off before) is South Dakota State Jackrabbit Nate Wolters.
Fmr Weber St star Damian Lillard will represent Blazers at NBA lottery on May 21. Jazz are sending president Randy Rigby, by the way.
Jazz should do whatever they can to get Trey Burke and James Ennis. It'd be a hoot hearing some guys not mix up Burke-Burks and Enes-Ennis.
Jazz are working out six potential draftees tomorrow. James Ennis, Jamelle Hagins, Colton Iverson, Myck Kabongo, Mike Snaer.
I know the last thing fans want to hear is a sports writer whining, but limited access hurts the coverage we're able to provide you.
This line from Utah's press release is disturbing: "Jazz staff will not be available for comment." This organization's trend is less access.
Invitees include James Ennis, Jamelle Hagins, Colton Iverson, Myck Kabongo, Mike Snaer and Nate Wolters.
Utah Jazz are doing earlier than usual pre-draft workouts. Tomorrow's group features five guards and one forward.
Other thoughts: No. 1, 3-pointers now much more mainstream than than 1980s and 1990s. No. 2, defenses much less physical now, per rules
Career shooting percentages: Stockton 51.5% over 19 years, Hornacek 49.6% over 14 years, Stephen Curry 46.5%, Klay Thompson 43%.
Blazers with LaMarcus Aldridge have as poor a defensive run over the last year as Al Jefferson with Minnesota and Utah. Yet little mention
Dang! I just started a low-crab diet. ... Tons of crab spilled on I-15 on.fox13now.com/ooGOZgV
Hey, he can't do that! Yes, he can. Sports owners do what they want. rockmonster.blogs.deseretnews.com/2013/05/10/sor…

Thursday, May 09 Dr. Jack, Thanks so much for all you have brought to the NBA and its fans. - signed a die-hard NBA fan
To this day one of the highlights of my career was sitting next to Dr. Jack at dinner on an off night of 97 Finals - what a thrill
So sad to hear Dr. Jack Ramsey broadcast career has come to an end due to medical condition miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/20…
One of my new favorite things is to listen to @Bill Simmons podcast a week late. Hope no one ever does this to me.
Surprising find -- The Pelicians (Hornets) defense was 5 pts per 100 possessions worse this year than last and they added Anthony Davis
Since Vinny Del Negro took over Clippers the Clips defense efficicency has gone 108.7 his 1st year, 105.7 2nd and 103.6 this year
Enjoying some Jazz in Louis Armstrong Park (not that Jazz) here in New Orleans twitpic.com/cpgrlg
Last 4 season Warriros opponents grabbed 31% potential offensive rebounds. This year opponents only got 24.5% of their own misses
Baseball teams which purposely lose are called the Black Sox. Jockeys who lose on purpose are prosecuted. But NBA teams are astute? Please.
Just once I'd like a new coach/GM say, "We're not going to run. No way. We're going to walk it up, grind it out and win with defense."
Perhaps Bob Myers' 7th place finish in Exec of the Year voting is actually a statement by other GMs on purposely losing games. I hope so.
Jazz say they make decisions by committee with owner Gail Miller, CEO Greg Miller, president Randy Rigby, O'Connor, Lindsey & CFO Bob Hyde.
NBA front-office types voted Denver's Masai Ujiri executive of the year. Jazz's Kevin O'Connor got two second-place votes, finished 13th.
Biggest waste of time in sports: "They could have drafted (Player X)." And Portland could have drafted Michael Jordan. But it didn't.
Former Jazz draft pick and still Jazz property Ante Tomic making big defensive impact in EuroLeague... fb.me/EpSL0DIg
Watching Miami v. Marquette, Vander Blue of Marquette jumping off screen. After Butler and Wesley out of Marquette. Luv any Marquette plyr
Shane Larkin's dad is MLB great Barry Larkin - draft him on the dad athlete theory - see Steph Curry, Mike Conley and Klay Thompson
Early live tip off in the morning - 6:15 am - not that I think anyone will be awake for that.
The lockout was not about Small markets it was about competitive balance a 5 and 6 seed in wcf would be competitive balance
The difference in the Spurs this year from last was Splitter mins increase and defense went from 11th to 3rd - Splitter has played 9 mins
Klay Thompson had 34 and 8 3's but his 14 rebounds and his defense on Parker were most impressive parts of his game
Klay Thompson's fundamentals on his jumper are awesome. Feet set, feet even, shoulders square, feet always land forward of launch spot
Memphis has been better than OKC, GSW better than the Spurs - if we get Memphis v. GSW does Stern call lockout and new CBA a victory
Never seen the Pop/Duncan/Parker/Manu Spurs play with as much panic as they have in the fourth quarter.
I think Tank Barnes is a top-five rookie. I really do. But should he be guarding Manu down the stretch of a playoff game?

Wednesday, May 08 Warriros shooting in Clutch (< 5 mins < 5 pts) this season - Cury (37% -27% frm 3) Jack (36%) Thompson (31%) - Landry (65%) Barnes (40%)
So Golden State has outplayed San Antonio for 56 of the first 60 minutes in this series and has exactly what to show for it?
Oh, all right, if the doctor insists...I'll eat the bacon. bigcountryhomepage.com/fulltext/?nxd_…
Reminds me of "Forget Paris" scene, when ref Billy Crystal starts throwing everybody out of the game: Kareem, Laimbeer, Isiah for smiling.
These teams are lucky Joey Crawford isn't working tonight. There might not be anybody left for the fourth quarter.
Personal note: Prayers for Danny Brown. Wonderful guy. Nearly died in Vietnam. He heard medics say he wasn't going to make it. A true hero.
Sloan reports long-time friend and farm caretaker Danny Brown underwent successful heart surgery on Tuesday.
Sloan says he feels fine. Health not an issue when considering a possible return to coaching.
Sloan has spent the last two weeks on his southern Illinois farm, but rainy weather has limited his off-road activities.
Sloan says Brooklyn has not called so "there's no reason to talk about" a possible reunion with Deron Williams.
