Brooklyn Nets

ADDITIONS:
Andray Blatche (Washington), Keith Bogans, Josh Childress (Brooklyn), Reggie Evans (LA Clippers), Joe Johnson (Atlanta), James Mays (Capitanes de Arecibo), Carleton Scott (Charleroi), Carleton Scott (Carefuel), Jerry Stackhouse (Atlanta), Tyshawn Taylor (Kansas), Mirza Teletovic (Atlanta) and CJ Watson (Chicago).

SUBTRACTIONS:
Jordan Farmar (Anadolu Efes), Sundiata GainesGerald Green (Indiana), Damion JamesArmon JohnsonAnthony Morrow (Atlanta), Johan Petro (Atlanta), DeShawn Stevenson (Atlanta), Jordan Williams and Shelden Williams (Elan Chalon).

STRENGTHS:
The dynamic Deron Williams-Joe Johnson backcourt is one of the best in the league … Johnson, still a good spot-up shooter, should benefit from more open looks by playing alongside Williams … Opponents won’t face a more physical backcourt than Williams and Johnson … Williams is a career 35.1 three-point shooter and teams have to often give him that shot because he is so dangerous taking it to the basket …The Nets will have an elite perimeter defender in Gerald WallaceBrook Lopez is among the top offensive centers in the Eastern Conference … Underrated pickup Reggie Evans brings interior toughness … Marshon Brooks was a pleasant surprise as a rookie and should provide instant offense off the bench … CJ Watson is a solid veteran and give the Nets backcourt depth … Kris Humphries has averaged a double-double for consecutive seasons and is an unselfish offensive player and relentless rebounder … Brooklyn could have a balanced offense with so many capable double-figure scorers … An interesting addition could be 6-9 power forward Mirza Teletovic, known for his shooting … Moving to Brooklyn and a new arena should further energize this franchise.

WEAKNESSES:
Williams missed 17 games two years ago and was out for 11 of 66 last season so he has to show he can be durable because, despite all the new additions, he remains the true difference-maker on the team … While Williams is prone to make the spectacular play, he is prone to turnovers too ... Joe Johnson’s play has leveled off the last few years and the Nets have to hope that being paired with Williams will bring the best out of him … Johnson will have trouble defending quicker two-guards… Lopez has to show he is healthy after playing just five games last season … Despite being a 7-footer, Lopez is not a strong rebounder… Brooks must improve his decision-making and with better offensive players around him shouldn’t feel like he has to force the issue … Wallace has a tendency to take too many three-pointers, which isn’t his strength … While the Nets have good backcourt depth, they are thinner in the frontcourt … Evans can’t be on the court at the end of games because he is such a poor free throw shooter.

PROJECTION:
2nd in the Atlantic Division / 3rd in the Eastern Conference

PROJECTED STARTERS
PG: Deron Williams Allen Iverson SG: Joe Johnson Terrence Williams SF: Gerald Wallace
It will all start an end with him. Primed for a great season with less pressure to score for him. The summer's big acquisition. Great combination of size and shooting/ballhandling skills. Hustle player with talent on the offensive end. Gives the Nets rebounding and tough defense.
Yi Jianlian PF: Kris Humphries C: Brook Lopez Sixth: Marshon Brooks
Doesn't have a lot of talent, but plays hard every night. Will not get many touches, but will rebound the ball. Finesse big man with a lot of skills. A true go-to guy in the post. Not very intense defensively. Will come out firing off the bench. Will be interesting to see if he has added more dimensions to his game.
