As for Price, he proved that he is a bona fide NBA point guard. When the Pacers called him, he was just days away from signing a contract to play in China. Now, he will undoubtedly have options. He could get a shot on another NBA team or he could opt to head overseas, but you have to think his list of suitors has gotten longer. NBA.com

In his previous nine appearances before Wednesday, Price, 28, helped steady the second unit by averaging 10.4 points and 2.4 assists. Price scored 22 points during a Nov. 10 win over Utah, only his third game with the Pacers. Also, Price made 34.3 percent of his 3-pointers and even knocked down a deep shot in the fourth quarter against Dallas on Monday that pulled the Pacers ahead to a nine-point lead. "I think I played decent. I played well," Price said. "Hopefully, I've done enough to stick around somewhere." Indianapolis Star

"I'm optimistic it'll work out, if not here then somewhere else," continued Price, who said he will also contemplate playing in an international league. "Everything's an option at this point. You can't rule anything out at this point. If I'm not able to get a job here in the NBA, then overseas is definitely an option." Indianapolis Star

The Indiana Pacers announced Monday they have been granted a second injury hardship relief exception from the NBA due to their current status with injured players, and A.J. Price will remain with the team. NBA.com

As good as Price and third-stringer-turned-starter Donald Sloan have both played this year, Hill and Watson are both proven commodities, and it would make little sense to keep four point guards on the 15-man roster once everyone is healthy. But for now, Price is still a member of the Pacers. And as long as he's here, he's going to contribute. NBA.com

Should the Pacers be unable to keep him, Price will have options. Performances like Monday's catch the eye of other NBA teams who might be in need of a point guard, and he has an offer to play in China, where so many other ex-NBA players migrate. NBA.com

“I'm playing for my life. I'm staying till they tell me to go or tell me to stay longer, either/or,” Price said Monday, moments after coming off the bench to score 22 points in helping the Pacers to their second victory of the season, 97-86 over Utah. NBA.com

He's a hardship case, an emergency acquisition, a temp worker of sorts. NBA teams can exceed the 15-player limit when at least four players are injured for at least two weeks and miss at least three games. The Pacers have gone beyond that, with Paul George, George Hill, David West, C.J. Watson and Rodney Stuckey rehabbing injuries and C.J. Miles out for the past three games with a migraine. So, they called him at his home in Baldwin, N.Y. last Wednesday evening, about 10 p.m., to invite him to join them for Friday's game at Boston – but even then only after their first choice, Gal Mekel, had visa issues. Problem is, West and Watson could return by the end of the week, and Miles could return anytime, which puts Price's status in jeopardy. NBA.com

The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday they have signed free agent point guard A.J. Price. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released. NBA.com

Adrian Wojnarowski: Indiana has signed guard A.J. Price, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. Twitter @WojYahooNBA

The Indiana Pacers are working to complete the signing of free-agent guard A.J. Price after abandoning plans to sign Gal Mekel because of a procedural snag with Mekel's visa, according to league sources. Sources told ESPN.com that the Pacers, after Wednesday flying Mekel to Boston so he could meet the team there Thursday, pulled out of a deal to sign the Israeli point guard upon learning that Mekel's visa that allows him to play in the NBA would likely not be renewed until Friday in the wake of his recent release by the Dallas Mavericks. The Pacers, sources said, then moved onto Price, who spent his first three NBA seasons in Indiana and became a free agent this week after his recent release by the Cleveland Cavaliers. ESPN.com
