Chandler is so high on Aminu that he compares him favorably to former Chicago Bulls superstar Scottie Pippen. “The first day I saw him I told him he should go back and watch Scottie Pippen, watch the tapes on him because that athletic, long built of being able to really hound guys with long arms and strength, I feel like he has that,” Chandler said. “And he has the motor to stay after it as well.” Fort Worth Star-Telegram

The Dallas Mavericks believe forward Al-Farouq Aminu is one of the best bargains of the summer. Aminu, 23, officially signed with the Mavs on Tuesday. It’s a two-year deal for the veteran’s minimum with a player option for the second season. That’s tremendous value for a player who was the eighth overall pick in the 2010 draft and started in New Orleans the last two seasons. ESPN.com

Meanwhile, two sources said the Mavericks were preparing to welcome 6-foot Jameer Nelson to town on Thursday. He is expected to take a physical and if everything is in order, will sign with the Mavericks for their cap-room exception of $2.7 million. They also reached an agreement on a two-year, $2.1 million contract with New Orleans free agent Al-Farouq Aminu, who has a nose for rebounding and defense but is limited offensively. He would be an option when it comes to guarding the toughest offensive matchups in the Western Conference such as Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant. Dallas Morning News

Because of Randolph's $18.2 million current salary, the Pelicans' incoming aggregate salaries would have to be within $5 million of the of the aggregate outgoing salaries going to the Grizzlies. Therefore, in addition to Anderson ($8.3 million), the Pelicans could consider including Al-Farouq Aminu ($3.7 million) and Austin Rivers ($2.3 million) in the deal. According to two sources, Rivers is unhappy with his playing time and would be open to a trade. Bleacher Report
