Speaking in the visiting locker room at Verizon Center before taking on his former team Saturday night, Sacramento Kings backup point guard Andre Miller admitted he was “surprised” the Wizards traded him for another backup point guard last month. He understood Washington’s motivation –Ramon Sessions provides a more aggressive offensive presence and is 11 years younger – but he hinted that he was made a scapegoat for the Wizards’ roughest stretch of the season. “The surprising part for me was I thought the team was playing well,” said Miller, who was taken out of the rotation for a few games prior to the trade. “I know teams try to look for ways to get better but my role on the Wizards was basically to come in and give John Wall a rest and run the second unit, which I thought I was doing. They probably looked at it different ways.” Washington Post

"I'm not satisfied with my career. I just know that I still got something left. So for me, being close to home, just having I guess what you would call it - comfortable with this city - and just a transition at this point in my career it's best that I just stay where I'm at," Miller told Sactown Royalty. "I didn't want to leave Washington, it happened, and I don't want to leave here." Sactown Royalty

The Sacramento Kings today acquired guard Andre Miller from the Washington Wizards in exchange for guard Ramon Sessions, according to Kings General Manager Pete D’Alessandro. “Adding Andre bolsters our backcourt with one of the most prolific ball distributors in the game,” said D’Alessandro. “He’ll also provide veteran leadership to the lockeroom and a wealth of experience at the point guard position. We’re excited to have him join the team. We also want to thank Ramon and wish him the best moving forward.” NBA.com

“I would like to close it out here,” Miller told Basketball Insiders on finishing his career with the Wizards. “I’m just enjoying this [success] and taking it one game at a time. Putting all my effort into practices and getting the most out of myself as far as being a team player. So I haven’t really thought about my contract situation. But of course I will continue to play next year barring any injuries. So let’s see what happens this summer.” Basketball Insiders

With over 40,000 career minutes already logged most guys this would be most guys’ swan song but the 38 year old Miller says he has zero plans to retire and is looking to secure a multi-year deal with the Wizards if the opportunity is presented. “I would like to close it out here,” Miller told Basketball Insiders on finishing his career with the Wizards. “I’m just enjoying this [success] and taking it one game at a time.
