The Detroit Pistons have admitted to hosting an individual workout for just one player projected to go in the first round of the NBA Draft, and when Arnett Moultrie confounded some at the NBA Draft Combine by declining to participate in drills which seemed tailored to his athleticism, it came with some attendant suspicion of a tacit promise from a team with a good draft position to take him. The Pistons pick No. 9 in the June 28 draft, and while most projections have Moultrie going a bit later than that – based loosely on penalizing him for balking at the combine drills – the 6-10 ¾, 233-pounder from Mississippi State was the only likely first-rounder among 15 players the Pistons listed Friday as having worked out for the team. The Suns close workouts and do not announce or comment on visiting prospects, but league sources revealed that on Saturday they hosted an impressive group of big men who are all first-round candidates. The workout featured North Carolina's John Henson and Tyler Zeller, Illinois' Meyers Leonard, Baylor's Perry Jones and Mississippi State's Arnett Moultrie, as well as Vanderbilt small forward Jeffery Taylor. Most of the top prospects did not participate in drills at the NBA combine, but Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld said the team was able to get some much-needed information during their meet-and-greet sessions with the players. They met with Robinson, Beal, Kidd-Gilchrist, North Carolina players Harrison Barnes, John Henson, Tyler Zeller and Kendall Marshall, Andre Drummond and Jeremy Lamb from Connecticut, Ohio State forward Jared Sullinger, Washington guard Terence Ross, Duke guard Austin Rivers, Mississippi State forward Arnett Moultrie, Illinois center Meyers Leonard and Vanderbilt guard John Jenkins, among others. The prospects who have had their names connected to the Sixers include forwards Perry Jones of Baylor, John Henson of North Carolina, and Arnett Moultrie of Mississippi State. But it is possible that they could use the pick on Illinois center Meyers Leonard, Syracuse's Fab Melo or North Carolina's Tyler Zeller. Sun Herald

Moultrie said he's projected to go anywhere from seven to 17. When asked what would be the best place for him, he quickly answered: the Pistons. "I know they need a big, someone to play alongside Greg Monroe," Moultrie said. "He had a pretty good year. I think it's a perfect fit. He's more of a skill guy. I can block shots, rebound, run the floor." Detroit News

Basketball agent Terrance Doyle graduated high school in 2002, which means he is likely still in his 20s. But you would not be able to tell based on the client list he is amassing. Doyle and his company Veritas Venture Group represent Orlando Magic guard Von Wafer, along with quite a few D-League and international players. They have also picked up a couple of recent student-athletes, including Syracuse’s Scoop Jardine and most recently Mississippi State Junior forward Arnett Moultrie. Sports Agent Blog
