The Charlotte Bobcats plan to audition Bostjan Nachbar and Jamario Moon today, looking for another small forward to fill out the roster. The Bobcats chose not to match a Memphis Grizzlies offer sheet on restricted free-agent forward Dante Cunningham. Doing so would have obligated the Bobcats to about $4 million in total guarantees this season and next. With long-range shooter Reggie Williams recovering from surgery to repair knee cartilage, player-personnel chief Rod Higgins would like another scoring option. Charlotte Observer

I was doing an informal Twitter poll that James Posey was leading over Bostjan Nachbar and Steve Novak while I awaited tipoff of Clippers-Lakers on NBA-TV when Novak suddenly tweeted: “Next stop: NY!!!!” Within an hour or so, Novak removed the tweet. SheridanHoops

A source close to James Posey said the Knicks have been in contact with the forward as recently as Monday. The source said Posey has been in talks with a number of teams and, as of Monday night, no deal had been struck. According to a report Monday from the Boston Globe, the Celtics are not interested in re-signing Posey, who was a key piece to their 2008 NBA championship team. Posey was amnestied by the Indiana Pacers and cleared waivers, so he is free to sign with any team. Other Knicks targets of interest may include Al Thornton and Bostjan Nachbar. ESPN.com

Slovenian forward Bostjan Nachbar met with Knicks officials Tuesday in what was initially deemed to be a workout but ended being more like a job interview. “It was an informal (workout),” Nachbar told HoopsHype. “I went there basically just to talk a little bit to the Knicks’ staff. It wasn’t a workout like coaches watching me or something like that. They just wanted to see how I’m doing, see where they are at… There’s interest from both sides, let’s see what happens. “It was kind of an interview, but I know Mike D’Antoni from before [he coached him at Benetton Treviso] so I didn’t really have to sit down and introduce myself. We know each other very well. He was one of the most important figures in my career, especially when I went to the NBA. It was good to catch up with him.” HoopsHype

The Knicks — and Nets — also have reached out to Bostjan Nachbar. The former Net, a 6-foot-9 sharpshooter, once played for Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni with Benetton Treviso in Italy before both player and coach headed to the NBA. Nevertheless, Nachbar has been out of the league the past three seasons, playing the last two in Turkey and one in Russia. New York Post
