Yet it was obvious he was still closely connected to the 76ers. He even made a point of speaking up for his former teammates when asked about no longer being on a tanking team. One day after being traded to the Brooklyn Nets, the power forward kept referring to the Sixers as "we," hours before facing his former team Friday night. "One thing I can tell you in the locker room, we were set on winning," he said when asked how refreshing it is to play for a veteran, non-tanking squad. "We were just going away. I think the games we played in showed that. We lost some close games against some really good teams. Philadelphia Inquirer

The Nets and 76ers made the Andrei Kirilenko trade official Thursday, with Brooklyn agreeing to send Kirilenko, Jorge Gutierrez their 2020 second-round pick, the right to swap 2018 second-round picks and cash considerations to Philadelphia for forward Brandon Davies. One wrinkle to the trade is the swap of second-round picks will give the Nets the lower pick between theirs and the Cavaliers, who already sent Philadelphia their second-round pick that year as part of a trade this summer. The Nets also created a pair of trade exceptions — one worth $3.4 million, the other worth $916,000 — as part of the deal. New York Post

But for Brett Brown, this move hit a nerve because he and Davies had a player-coach relationship that eases the otherwise painful process of being 2-19. "When you start losing people that you are very fond of and have tremendous respect for ... there is a human side of it that bothers me because you are trying to grow chemistry, you are trying to grow a culture," Brown said after Thursday's practice. "That takes a hit when teammates lose teammates. There is a respect, effort-wise, of how they go about their business. There is a reality to our job that is just business in the NBA, but it doesn't mean it has to feel right." CSNPhilly.com

The Brooklyn Nets have agreed to send veteran small forward Andrei Kirilenko, a 2020 second-round draft pick and cash to the Philadelphia 76ers for second-year forward Brandon Davies, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to USA TODAY Sports. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal was not yet finalized. The deal, which will save the formerly-free-spending Nets approximately $12 million and is likely to be finalized on Thursday, is also expected to give the Sixers the right to swap 2018 second-round picks with Brooklyn.
