Jackson considers Carmelo Anthony “an amazing ballplayer who still has another level to step up.” But given a choice, he seemed to prefer Brooklyn’s roster to New York’s because of the age of the Knicks and the presence of the Nets’ Deron Williams and Brook Lopez. “The Knicks still have to find some accommodating group of guys that know how to play ball together, move the ball, play the game the right way,” he said. “With Brooklyn, if you’ve got a point guard and a solid center, or a good point guard and a great center, you’ve got two of the pieces that you want to have toward a champion.” New York Times |

How different are the Bulls without Derrick Rose? Brook Lopez: “I really think the way they are built, they are a good team in every meaning of the word. They really play together. They play for each other, and as long as their team wins, they really don’t care who gets the limelight. I think that’s really what powers them.” Sports Radio Interviews |

Carlesimo’s thoughts on Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov: He doesn’t pretend to understand all the (basketball) workings. Billy King’s his general manager, and he values very much what Billy says. And I think he lets a coach coach. He makes it very clear to you he wants to win. To me, he’s a perfect NBA owner because, every owner in the League says they want to win a championship. But A, not a lot of them are willing to put the money out there. He’s already shown that he’s willing to do that. Secondly, he’s very serious about it. His line of questions were, if you ask about a certain player…Brook Lopez, "What’s he like?" "Well, I really like him, he’s a good big man"…, he says, "Can we win a championship with Brook Lopez at center?" "Yes." Next. And, he asked, "Strengths? Weaknesses? You like him? You don’t like him?" But the last question is always, "Is he gonna be a good piece on us winning a championship?" NetsDaily The event at Brooklyn Bowl drew Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Andray Blatche, Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace. All seemed to have a good time, even though D-Will did compare Kris Humphries to a "robot" ... and then thought better of it. NetsDaily |

Talking about the Nets "Big Three" of Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez, Carlesimo said they are a "big plus in us attracting whoever it may be, in a trade, a free agent signing, whatever it is, whatever Billy King and Mikhail Prokhorov figure out, the direction we're going to go, I think these guys know they're part of the reason and ... they accept it and they embrace it." He explained, "Players are going to say, they want to play with Deron and Joe and Brook Lopez, that they got something good going in there. We saw what happened in Miami. We see what is kind of a trend in the league right now of the better players wanting to go where the other good players are, even if they get a little bit less attention, sometimes even a little less money. It's about rings and I think that's going to be very, very important for us going forward." NetsDaily |

![]() Veered off Knicks for a night and checked out the Nets and Hornets at Barclays Center. And got to see the rarity, Brook Lopez dunking over his twin brother, Robin, securing a year's worth of bragging rights. “We don’t talk to each other during games,” Brook said. “He dunked on me my rookie year, so this is getting him back. ... I might get him for a little (trash-talk) tonight. I don’t think he’ll want to put up with me though. I know my friends are going to text him though.” Sulia |

For the third time in four games Sunday, Lopez was a non-entity in the fourth quarter (he did play seven seconds in one of those games, but that doesn’t count). And interim coach P.J. Carlesimo acknowledges the move, based on the flow of the game and usually by the play of Andray Blatche is something he must actively seek to avoid. “It's probably something that I don't want to do in the future,” Carlesimo said. “I created the situation and it’s not a good situation. So yes, I worry about it that I need to address it and I worry about it that I need to watch what I do going forward.” New York Post |

That experience has Lopez still hoping that he can enjoy the full experience at some point in the future, as he said he would welcome the opportunity to get a second chance either at next year’s World Championships in Spain or in the Olympics in Rio in 2016. “Definitely,” Lopez said after participating in the Shooting Stars competition during Saturday night’s All-Star Festivities. “No question. It’d be a huge honor. I’d love to, and if I got the opportunity I would definitely take advantage of it.” Lopez said he has expressed similar sentiments to Jerry Colangelo, the director of USA Basketball. “I have run into him, and I definitely talked about my interest,” Lopez said. New York Post Williams' drives aren't just leading to missed shots. He's also turned it over an eye-popping 17 percent of the time - worse than any floor general but Chalmers, someone who's often a point in name only. That's more than twice the amount of three point guards on SportVU-subscribing teams - Parker (8 percent), Brandon Jennings (6) and Russell Westbrook (5) - give it away. Oddly enough, Lopez hasn't suffered from Williams' season to forget. He's the fourth-most efficient player in the league (PER) behind James, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul, and he's actually ahead of James and Paul - and sixth in the NBA - in points per touch (0.434). NBA.com A day before playing in his first All-Star game, Brook Lopez said he has talked to USA Basketball president Jerry Colangelo about playing for the national team. “It would be a huge honor, definitely,” Lopez said. “If I got the opportunity I would definitely take advantage of it.” Lopez, 24, was invited to Team USA training camp before the 2010 World Championships but he withdrew after catching mono. The U.S. will play in the 2014 World Championships in Spain. Colangelo told NBA.com that David Lee, Stephen Curry and Paul George were “on the radar” for making that squad. New York Daily News |

Brook Lopez: He also told the two Mikes how he prepared last summer for a career without the Nets. Asked about hearing his name in trade rumors, Lopez seemed to be saying he was prepared for a deal and that as a result, he focused on his goals and ready no matter where he wound up. It's a business, it's the nature of the business but I tend to try to ignore that stuff and work on bettering my game and putting myself in a position especially this summer whne they were really rampant I was working on putting myself in a position to succeed whether I was still with the Nets or wherever I was, with whatever trade is going down. NetsDaily ![]() Stephen A. Smith: "Now, here's the problem. He doesn't determine that. He can't force his way to Brooklyn, can't pull that off. You gotta remember, the way the rules are stipulated now, you understand, the reality of the situation is that with the Nets, he had his chance. Now, if they want to let go of Brook Lopez, and they're able to unload Kris Humphries, you know, things of that nature, something could happen. But the Nets have to be willing to capitulate and the Lakers have to be convinced he's definitely going to leave. They've got less than a week. You know trading deadline is rapidly approaching. It's February 21. It's a problem! "But I'm just telling you... RR: "He's still saying that? He's still thinks he's going to Brooklyn?" Stephen A. Smith: "He still believes it." NetsDaily |

Nets coach P.J. Carlesimo only praised one of his players following the Nets' 92-83 loss to the Lakers on Tuesday. And it wasn't Brook Lopez, who finished with a game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds. No, the kind words were for Gerald Wallace. "If you had said to me before the game, 'Kobe’s gonna go 9-for-24 with four assists, I would have taken it, no questions asked," Carlesimo said. "Don’t get me wrong, I’m not taking anything away from Kobe, but I thought the job Gerald did on Kobe was exceptional. All you can do is make a player that good work, and he did that." ESPN.com |
