The Orlando Magic have waived wing Quentin Richardson, combo forward Justin Harper and wing Chris Johnson, team officials said. The moves bring the team's roster down to 15 players, ahead of the NBA-mandated 5 p.m. Monday deadline. It also means that wing DeQuan Jones, an undrafted rookie and former Miami Hurricanes player, made the regular-season roster. Richardson, 32, didn't fit into the Magic's long-term plans, and he didn't play in Orlando's final four preseason games. Orlando Sentinel

The Orlando Magic signed free-agent swingman Chris Johnson on Tuesday, the team announced, bringing their roster to 20 players as the exhibition season continues. Johnson, 22, went undrafted out of Dayton in 2012. In his four seasons with the Flyers, he averaged 10.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game and shot 42.7 percent from the floor. He's made a living as a floor-spacing specialist, taking nearly three-fifths of his shot attempts from three-point range and connecting on 37.1 percent of them. Orlandoinstripedpost.com

After bouncing around playing for seven professional basketball teams since 2009, former LSU center Chris Johnson hopes he has made his final stop with the Hornets. Johnson, 6 feet 11, 210 pounds, is signed for the remainder of the season. The Hornets claimed him off waivers earlier this month after his release from the Portland Trail Blazers. Whether the Hornets re- sign him after this season largely will depend on how he performs in the final 15 games, according to team officials. “I’m still trying to figure out what he does,” Hornets Coach Monty Williams said. “We want him to be physical, but we want him to play smart. He’s an athletic big that can run the floor. I’m looking to see if he can give us a punch on the defensive end.” New Orleans Times-Picayune

Although former LSU forward Chris Johnson participated in the New Orleans Hornets’ shootaround, Coach Monty Williams has not determined if he will play tonight against the Golden State Warriors. The Hornets claimed Johnson, 6 feet 11, 210 pounds, off waivers Tuesday. He was waived by the Portland Trail Blazers on March 15. `` I just learned the little things today,’’ Johnson said. ``I look to bring energy, block shots and rebound, pretty much what I did at LSU.’’ New Orleans Times-Picayune
