"It's doing better," said Maggette, 32. "Each day there's improvement. No setbacks. That's a positive thing. "The last two days I've been moving around more. Today I shot. I was getting a little more elevation to my shot." Coach Lawrence Frank would only say that Maggette is day to day and he doesn't know when he'll play if at all on the nine-day road trip. "He hasn't practiced," Frank said. "He's coming along." Booth Newspapers |

But with 10 days and two exhibition games before the regular-season opener against the Rockets at the Palace, Maggette said he will be patient and isn't worried about missing the rest of the exhibition season. "I'm just being patient with it, listen to what Arnie says and go from there," Maggette said before Saturday night's game at the Palace against the Charlotte Bobcats -- their sixth exhibition. "I'm not rushing to get back for the preseason. At the end of the day, it's more important to be ready for the regular season. That's what really counts. This is an opportunity for (coach Lawrence Frank) to assess the players. For me, it's just trying to be healthy. That's No. 1." Detroit Free Press |

Even though the small forward position is crowded with Tayshaun Prince and Corey Maggette, it'll be hard to keep Singler on the bench because of his ability to hit threes and his basketball IQ. "He makes us more athletic," Pistons big man Greg Monroe said. "He's a smart player." Singler said: "I'm here getting to know my teammates." Detroit Free Press |

The Detroit Pistons have been talking up Corey Maggette’s leadership but the truth of the matter is Maggette is not in the long-term plan in Detroit. If the Piston can flip his ending $10.9 million contract for something they like, you can expect Corey to be moved. HoopsWorld |

But how much longer will that career continue? Maggette doesn’t know, and he probably won’t have much of an idea until he’s able to test his degenerating body over the course of a full season. Retirement, he admits, is an option. “I work hard, but we’ll see how long I want to go on after this year,” he said. “We’ll go from there.” HoopsWorld |

![]() The Bobcats have the option to waive one player and no longer count his salary against their cap or a potential luxury-tax bill. Maggette makes about $10.9 million next season, the last on his contract. So the Bobcats could drop considerably under the cap by using the amnesty clause on Maggette. I should think there are four potential candidates should the Bobcats go the amnesty route: Maggette, Gana Diop (nearly $7.4 million next season), Matt Carroll ($3.5 million next season) or Tyrus Thomas (nearly $26 million over the next three seasons). If they’re reluctant to give up on Thomas, then waiving Maggette would produce the most cap space. Charlotte Observer Charlotte Bobcats leading scorer Corey Maggette will miss the last 10 games of the season, due to an Achilles tendon injury, coach Paul Silas told the Observer at morning shootaround. As if the Charlotte Bobcats could afford any additional injury woes, there was fear over the All-Star break that small forward Corey Maggette might have a torn meniscus that would have ended his season. "Just a God-send he didn't have a torn meniscus," coach Paul Silas told the Observer on Monday night. "That's what I (initially) heard." The diagnosis proved to be less dire; Maggette has inflammation and swelling in his right knee, and sat out practice Monday. He said he hopes to practice Tuesday, and if that goes all right, Maggette will try to play Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons in Auburn Hills, Mich. Charlotte Observer |

I suspect Corey Maggette could be out for a while with a left hamstring injury. As soon as it happened, on a drive to the basket, Maggette started hopping like putting any weight on his left leg would be agonizing. He walked out of the locker room in considerable discomfort. MRI back in Charlotte. We'll see. Charlotte Observer |

![]() The program, which includes both intensive training sessions and 5-on-5 games, will be aimed at getting guys playing pro level ball with pro level trainers while they wait for the ratification of the new deal. Chauncey Billups and Kevin Garnett will almost certainly be there, while other Impact alumni like Tayshaun Prince, Baron Davis, and Corey Maggette may also show up, but regardless of speculation, we can expect a lot of NBA guys to make the trip. Former Los Angeles Clipper Corey Maggette has become at least the second NBA player to buy a home in the Orange County hills overlooking the Newport Beach coastline. Public records show that the 6-foot-6 Maggette, 31, paid $3 million for a five-bedroom, 5 1/2-bathroom home with a canyon view near the top of Newport Coast. Orange County Register |

Utah basketball fans won't have to wait until the NBA unlocks itself to see Jazz players and Jimmer Fredette play in person again. An exhibition game featuring The Jimmer along with Jazz players Al Jefferson, Devin Harris, Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors and Ronnie Price will take place at the Salt Lake Community College's Lifetime Activities Center on Monday, Nov. 7. Tickets for the Pro Player Charity Classic go on sale at SmithTix outlets Monday at 1 p.m. The game's format will match the Jazz players — with more to be announced next week — against the NBA group. Chauncey Billups, Stephen Curry, Corey Maggette and Anthony Tolliver are the announced players who will join Fredette on the non-Jazz squad. Deseret News |
