Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said he expected Jones to arrive before his team played the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center on Wednesday night. Rivers said Jones, a 10-year NBA veteran who was playing this season for the Mad Ants in the NBA Development League, would provide the Clippers with a needed defensive presence on the wing. The Los Angeles Clippers plan to sign free-agent guard Dahntay Jones to a 10-day contract, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The Clippers had planned to sign Darius Miller to a 10-day deal earlier on Tuesday, but changed course several hours later to bring Jones back to the NBA out of the NBA Development League. Yahoo! The Fort Wayne Mad Ants, presented by Lutheran Health Network, announced today that they have acquired Dahntay Jones. Jones (6’6”, 225lbs) played for the Mad Ants during the 2007-08 season. Jones, an NBA veteran out of Duke, has played for several NBA teams in his professional career including four seasons with the Denver Nuggets and three seasons with the Indiana Pacers. During the 2007-08 season he played in 10 games for the Mad Ants averaging 24.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. NBA.com

A league source confirmed the Knicks have had discussions with free-agent swingman Dahntay Jones about bringing him in for a workout. Jones, 33, spent last season out of the NBA after playing the previous 10 seasons in the league for Memphis, Sacramento, Denver — where he was teammates with Carmelo Anthony when the Nuggets reached the Western Conference Finals in 2009 — Indiana, Dallas and Atlanta.
