Less than a year after losing top assistant coach Mike Budenholzer to the Atlanta Hawks, the Spurs may be in danger of losing his successor to the Utah Jazz. According to a well-connected NBA source familiar with the Jazz? search for a successor to head coach Ty Corbin, Spurs assistant Jim Boylen is at the top of Utah general manager Dennis Lindsey?s list of potential replacements. Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey said last week that Corbin, whose career record is 87-89, has "performed really well under these circumstances," but declined to comment on anything related to his contract status. Corbin’s agent, Los Angeles-based Steve Kauffman, said the sides have not begun negotiating an extension. The Utah Jazz announced today that the organization has named Justin Zanik as the team’s assistant general manager. In this newly created position, Zanik will participate in all areas of day-to-day management of the team. Zanik is expected to assume his new role on September 1. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not announced. “Justin possesses an extensive amount of international experience, an intimate knowledge of the collective bargaining agreement and a noted ability to work with players, agents and NBA management,” said Utah Jazz General Manager Dennis Lindsey. “He is a high-character individual with a strong work ethic and will be a tremendous addition to the Jazz basketball operations staff.
