Here is a brief interview I did with veteran guard DeShawn Stevenson who came over from the Nets in the Joe Johnson trade. He was part of the Mavericks’ NBA championship team in 2011. . What were your thoughts about being traded to the Hawks? A. I thought it was a good situation. I play better on playoff teams. I think this is a great playoff-caliber team. We’ve got great pieces. Me coming here, I was very excited. I think we have a lot of talent on this team and can do something good. Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Q. When the trade happened, did you immediately start breaking down the roster to see where you would fit in? A. Not really because I’m a veteran. It’s 82 games. You can be hot, you cannot be hot and at the end of the season be hot again. It’s all about being physically and mentally ready. I know this team. I’ve been in the league for 13 years. It’s always been a talented team and they need guy to go out there and be a defensive presence. Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The Brooklyn Nets are “very close” to acquiring six-time All-Star guard Joe Johnson from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for guards Jordan Farmar, Anthony Morrow and DeShawn Stevenson and centers Jordan Williams and Johan Petro, as well as a protected first-round pick that came from Houston, according to a league source. The deal, the source said, would be completed whether or not Brooklyn is able to convince free agent guard Deron Williams to re-sign with the team. Williams is entertaining an offer from the Dallas Mavericks as well. NBA.com

The Brooklyn Nets are finalizing a trade to acquire Atlanta Hawks guard Joe Johnson, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The trade will send guards Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar and DeShawn Stevenson and forwards Jordan Williams and Johan Petro to the Hawks, along with a 2013 first-round pick the Nets acquired from the Houston Rockets. Stevenson is a free agent, so he will go to the Hawks in a sign-and-trade deal. Johnson, 31, has four years and nearly $90 million dollars left on his contract. Shedding his contract would give Atlanta immense cap relief and flexibility moving forward. Yahoo! Sports

Brooklyn Nets guard DeShawn Stevenson isn't the first person to put an ATM inside his house -- in fact, DeShawn tells TMZ, he straight up jacked the idea from a big-time reality star... DeShawn tells us, Rob Dyrdek put an ATM in his house long before he did -- and when DeShawn saw Rob's house on MTV ... the NBA star thought it was genius, so he got one himself. TMZ.com

Stevenson — who has earned more than $25 million and a championship ring with the 2010-11 Dallas Mavericks in his 12- year career — says he has no problem charging friends to use the machine, since many of those friends are millionaire NBA stars. “Pay that 4.50,” he tweeted. Stevenson said he got the idea in 2010, after seeing on MTV that skateboarding star Rob Dyrdek had put one in his house. He thought it was “genius.” New York Post
