“I went up to contest the shot and I think that he purposely threw an elbow at me knowing that I was coming,” Horford said. “He hit me in the groin area. It was very painful. He hit me and it as a natural instinct as I was going for the block to put me hands down and I guess I hit him in the head. It was a very dirty play by him. I’m obviously upset about the call. I understand that they are at home. The crowd is against the refs and they have peer pressure on them so they couldn’t let it slide. I am hoping that the NBA looks at the play and realizes that it was not an intentional hit and I should not have had a flagrant foul.” Atlanta Journal-Constitution |

Vogel didn't put a timetable on it but gave the indication that D.J. Augustin could return to the backup point guard spot behind starter George Hill. Augustin was demoted to third string behind rookie Ben Hansbrough last week after he struggled running the second unit's offense and shooting the ball (26.6 percent from the field). Augustin, according to Vogel, has found his shooting stroke again. "He hasn't missed a shot since he came out of the lineup," Vogel said. "Honest to God, (team President) Donnie Walsh and I were laughing about it the other night, noticing it. Indianapolis Star |

In terms of those 108 offseason signees who become trade-eligible Saturday, at least three names are coming up repeatedly on the personnel grapevine: Indiana's D.J. Augustin, Phoenix's Michael Beasley and Boston's Courtney Lee. There's a reason for that, though: All three are seriously struggling. ESPN.com |

After watching his bench fall on its face on a regular basis by losing any momentum the starting unit put together, Vogel decided it was time for a change. And it's at backup point guard. Vogel demoted D.J. Augustin to third string and replaced him with Ben Hansbrough as the second unit's point guard Monday. "I think D.J. has been in a slump this year," Vogel said. "Our bench as an unit has been struggling. D.J. is not in any way solely responsible, but I don't want to change the whole bench and throw everybody upside down. We'll change one part and see if it has any impact." Indianapolis Star |

![]() Augustin said those detached feelings grew once he became a restricted free agent following last season. “I just didn’t hear anything the whole summer – I didn’t hear anything and my agent didn’t hear anything,” said Augustin, who played Friday against the Bobcats as a reserve point guard for the Indiana Pacers. “I didn’t know what would happen, so I got ready for whatever.” Charlotte Observer Responding to Augustin’s comments, Bobcats vice president of basketball operations Rod Higgins told the Observer, “I’m not going to go into specifics, but we offered him more than he signed for in Indiana.” The Bobcats rescinded Augustin’s qualifying offer once they came to terms with free agent Ramon Sessions during July. Within hours, Augustin signed with the Pacers. Charlotte Observer Ex-Charlotte Bobcat D.J. Augustin says he never felt good communication with the front office during his four seasons with the team. “You hear all kinds of stuff – how a bunch of times I was going to be traded,” said Augustin. “I didn’t always believe those things. But all through being here, I just never knew what would happen. That’s just how I felt.” Charlotte Observer |

Those comments came as a surprise and a disappointment to Rod Higgins, who heads the Bobcats’ basketball operations. The Bobcats offered Augustin a lucrative contract extension last season that he turned down. When the Bobcats came to terms with Ramon Sessions, the team rescinded a qualifying offer for more money than the one-year, $3.5 million contract Augustin signed with Indiana. “I’m not going to go into specifics, but we offered him more than he signed for in Indiana,’’ Higgins told the Observer at Friday shootaround. “I don’t think it would be appropriate to comment further than that.’’ Charlotte Observer ![]() It’s safe to say Charlotte Bobcats management feels ex-Bobcat D.J. Augustin did them wrong. Augustin, now a backup point guard with the Indiana Pacers, was quoted in Friday’s Indianapolis Star as saying he “never knew where I stood’’ with the franchise during Augustin’s 282-game career here. “I never felt like I was secure here,’’ Augustin continued. “That’s just how I felt. They didn’t talk to me about anything. I guess that’s how they do things.’’ Charlotte Observer “I’m not going to go into specifics, but we offered him more than he signed for in Indiana,’’ Higgins told the Observer at Friday shootaround. “I don’t think it would be appropriate to comment further than that.’’ Augustin started about half his games as a Bobcat, to mixed results. It’s clear the front office here feels they treated him with respect and patience. Charlotte Observer |

D.J Augustin is gone at point guard, free agent Ramon Sessions will replace him, and power forward Kris Humphries and center Brendan Haywood could end up Charlotte Bobcats, too. The Bobcats came to terms with Sessions Thursday, then rescinded a $4 million-plus qualifying offer to four-year Bobcat Augustin. That made Augustin an unrestricted free agent, and immediately Augustin signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Indiana Pacers. Charlotte Observer ![]() Adrian Wojnarowski: As @Mike Wells reports, Indy has agreed to a 1-year deal with DJ Augustin. Contract is worth $3.5 million, source tells Y! Twitter ![]() Mike Wells: Pacers have agreed to a 1 year deal with DJ Augustin, according to a source. Twitter The Bobcats have yet to resolve what to do with point guard D.J.
