As injuries decimate their roster, the Los Angeles Lakers are working on a one-year deal to sign forward Earl Clark, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Clark has averaged 29 points per game for the Rio Grand Valley Vipers of the NBA Development League, and the eventual finalization of a deal could bring Clark back to the Lakers in the next few days, sources said. While the added 3-point threat is valuable, Clark has still been very aggressive inside the arc as well. He's averaging 11.3 points in the paint this season and is getting to the line 4.7 times a night as well. Clark's ultimate goal is of course to latch on with an NBA team where he surely has the talent to contribute. He's only 26-years-old and he has 251 games on NBA experience to draw from. The 3-point threat definitely adds value for Clark for an NBA team, because the stretch four is the new trend and Clark can somewhat fit that mold. I say somewhat, because while Clark is 6'10 he's not a power forward as much as he is a lanky small forward. Ridiculous Upside

The Grizzlies have waived Earl Clark and Hassan Whiteside, according to the RealGM transactions log, though the team has yet to make a formal annoucement. They possessed two of the team’s four remaining non-guaranteed contracts, and their subtraction leaves Memphis at 16 players, one more than the team can carry on opening night. Hoops Rumors

On Monday, former Lakers forward Earl Clark signed a nonguaranteed contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, but he'll have to outplay two others competing for one roster spot -- assuming the Grizzlies take 15 players to the regular season. After a breakout season with the Lakers in 2012-13, Clark signed a two-year, $9-million deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers but the Cavs soon after dealt him to the Philadelphia 76ers for Spencer Hawes, who in turn cut him loose (before his second season became fully guaranteed). Clark is one of many former Lakers around the league. Los Angeles Times
