HoopsHype Ekpe Udoh rumors

Another possibility is big man Ekpe Udoh, the 27-year-old who visited with the Clippers on Tuesday. Udoh, who was taken sixth overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2010 draft, spent the last three seasons coming off the bench for the Milwaukee Bucks. Raduljica is also likely to be waived by the Clippers, and his possible buyout (he's owed $1.5 million) could also create more salary cap space. USA Today Sports

Among power rotation players, the Heat has shown interest in Emeka Okafor and has considered Ekpe Udoh. Preliminary inquiries were made on Andray Blatche and Jason Maxiell. Agent David Falk said he talked to the Heat about Elton Brand but that Brand is unlikely to end up here. Miami Herald

The Heat likely will add another veteran center at the minimum to replace Oden, but it has to be someone who’s content with not playing much. (Barring injury or foul trouble, it’s hard to see many minutes available, with Chris Bosh and Chris Andersen sharing virtually all the time at center; and Josh McRoberts, Udonis Haslem, Birdman and occasionally Danny Granger at power forward.) Among those still available: Elton Brand, Andray Blatche (Heat has avoided him before because of maturity, behavior issues), Charlie Villanueva, Ryan Hollins, Ekpe Udoh, Byron Mullins, Greg Stiesma and Andrew Bynum (who can’t stay healthy). The Bucks declined to make a qualifying offer to forward Ekpe Udoh on Monday and he will become an unrestricted free agent, a source confirmed. Udoh played sparingly for the Bucks last season, appearing in 42 games and making 14 starts. The 6-foot-10 Udoh got off to a rough start in the preseason when he underwent right knee surgery, forcing him to miss all of training camp and the first three games of the regular season. Ekpe Udoh will leave one positive lasting impression from this dreary season for the Milwaukee Bucks, and it has nothing to do with basketball. Few, if any, NBA players can say they've started a book club over Twitter. Fewer still probably cite entertainment magnate Oprah Winfrey as a role model. Udoh, a four-year NBA veteran, is thinking big. "I want to be like Oprah. I want to be like Oprah's book club," the Bucks forward said Tuesday. "I'll get there. It might take me a couple years, but I'll get some buzz going." ESPN.com

Ekpe Udoh saw the situation at practice Monday and realized the Bucks were short-handed. So the 6-foot-10 forward decided to move up his timetable a bit while making his return from arthroscopic knee surgery. Udoh went through a full-contact practice and is officially listed as questionable for the Bucks' home game against Cleveland on Wednesday night. Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

Congratulations, Ekpe Udoh. Your Milwaukee Bucks might not have gotten the win in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, but it certainly looks like your trip to Hollywood was the stuff dreams are made of. I'm sure Deron Williams is as jealous as jealous gets this morning. First Dwyane Wade and David Hasselhoff, now Ekpe Udoh and Betty White. Because things happen in threes, I'm eagerly awaiting the excitement when Steve Novak finally meets Marsha Warfield from "Night Court." Yahoo! Sports
