The Philadelphia 76ers today announced that they have recalled guards Lorenzo Brown and Elliot Williams from the Delaware 87ers of the NBA Development League. Brown (6-5, 186) was assigned to the Sevens on December 26, 2013 and appeared in five games, averaging 18 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Williams (6-5, 180) was assigned to the Sevens on January 5, 2014 and had 19 points, five rebounds and five assists in his only game played. NBA.com

Other non-roster players vying for spots are Australian point guard Matthew Dellavedova, Miami (Fla.) forward Kenny Kadji, St. Bonaventure forward Michael Lee, Georgetown center Henry Sims, Central Florida guard Jermaine Taylor and former first-round pick Elliot Williams, a guard from Memphis. Williams' mother, Delois, recently lost her 12-year battle with cancer on April 3. The news came as a shock to family and friends, Williams sad. It wasn't suppose to be her time. “Man, it's tough,” Williams said with a deep pause immediately followed. “When somebody so close to you leaves you, it's a reality check. It's kind of hard to believe I have to grow up without her.” The Trail Blazers told Williams to take as much time away as he needed to deal with his tragic loss. “You express your condolences and give them space and time to do what they need to do and comfort them in anyway you can,” Trail Blazers Head Coach Terry Stotts said. “People need their space in those type of situations.” CSNNW.com
