With Thursday’s trade deadline approaching, speculation persists about the New Orleans Pelicans' front office listening to offers for Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans. But Pelicans coach Monty Williams said after Monday’s practice that he expects for both players to still be with the team after the trade deadline passes. ''I don’t know where all that stuff comes from man,’’ Williams said. ''It’s silly to me to put guys names out there like that. I don’t know how to answer that. ''I’m focused on tomorrow's practice. As far as I know, those guys are going to be here. All the trade stuff, I guess there is nothing else to talk about. It’s not something we put a lot of stock into as coaches.’’ New Orleans Times-Picayune

Gordon said he was told by team officials that he's not on the trading block. However, speculation still persists that he could be moved if the Pelicans can find a team willing to take on his enormous contract. New Orleans Times-Picayune

New Orleans shooting guard Eric Gordon said before Wednesday night’s game at the BMO Harris Bradley Center that he’s heard the Bucks have had interest in him for some time. Gordon is reportedly on the trading block, although his hefty contract — $14.2M this season, $14.9M next season with a player option of $15.5M in 2015-16 — certainly would make it difficult for the Bucks to take him on. Q: Latest rumor is Bucks are interested in Eric Gordon. Based on his injury history, that looks like a bad move for the Bucks. That said, would Pels trade Gordon for Mayo and Neal? I would hope thee Bucks would not offer more than that. Alex Kennedy: The Bucks have shot this down. A well placed source from the Bucks told our Bill Ingram that any report about Milwaukee being interested in Eric Gordon is “completely untrue” so it doesn’t sound like they’ll make that move. The Pelicans are looking to make a big play, with rival executives having been given the impression that they're willing to trade shooting guard Eric Gordon. That's a tall task, though, considering Gordon is owed a combined $29 million for the next two seasons and is scoring a career-low 15.9 points per game. What form this pursuit of improvement takes is unclear, but New Orleans is among the more active teams around. USA Today Sports

The Pelicans have declined to discuss whether they've discussed trade proposals involving Gordon, but Gordon has fielded numerous questions recently regarding speculation that New Orleans is looking to unload the remainder of his hefty contract. At this point, Gordon isn't really sure what to think, so he's trying not to dwell on what might happen by the Feb. 20 NBA trading deadline. "It would be great to have that security to know if you're going to be here or not," Gordon said. "At the end of the day, I can't worry about that. All I can do is worry about trying to win." Still, making the argument that Gordon's production is living up to his salary is anything but a slam dunk, even for Gordon himself. "Individually, I think I can give more, do more," Gordon said after practice Monday, one day after his 14 points helped the Pelicans win for the third time in four games. "People here think I should be this big-time 20-point (per game) scorer. This is more of a team game here, this system here. It's a different adjustment. For me, now it's all about playing as many games as possible and getting my body back to being used to playing an 82-game season, because I haven't had that in almost two to three years now." The Pelicans signed Tyreke Evans this past summer to a four-year, $44 million free-agent deal and then added veteran PG Jrue Holiday via a trade with the Sixers to join Eric Gordon and Anthony Davis. But all the moves haven't exactly clicked. In fact, they've backfired, with New Orleans losing 13 of its last 17 games after starting out 11-10. The front office's take? Team execs are saying at least those are assets that can be moved. Davis and Holiday are the keepers. New York Daily News

New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Eric Gordon has heard the rumors that he's being actively shopped in trade deals, but he said he has been told by the team's management that any such rumors are false. "Well, they said no (the rumors weren't true). But at the end of the day, I've heard it before and they've heard it before. But it's something I can't worry about," Gordon said. According to a report by The Sporting News on Friday afternoon, the Pelicans have been actively pursuing trading Gordon, their starting shooting guard and highest-paid player. But a source within the organization told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune on Friday after The Sporting News story was released that the team is not currently shopping Gordon.
