West says he wants to permanently squash the rumor not just for his sake, but mostly for James and James’ mother. West says both were supportive during his three seasons in Cleveland. In fact, West says Gloria James reminded him of his single mother, Delphina Addison, who raised Delonte and his siblings to be “happy-poor, just enjoy life and the blessings that God has given us. “If we want to continue to grow as a human race, what are we teaching our kids if we try to make humor and fun out of stuff like that?” West says of the rumor. “Number one, something like that never happened. I don’t know where they got that from. “For a strong black woman like that, for people to try to tear her down, that’s terrible. That’s terrible in so many ways.” Dallas Morning News

LeBron James' mother is finally facing the music for slapping a valet at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach last year ... but she will NOT spend any time behind bars ... TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources tell us ... Gloria James struck a plea deal with prosecutors for the incident in which she slapped Rockfeller Sorel after allegedly berating him at the valet stand last April. Under the terms of the deal, the court has agreed to dismiss the public intoxication charge against Gloria ... if she completes 20 hours of community service, stays away from Sorel and donates $1,000 to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. FYI -- Sorel is Haitian and personally agreed to the deal. TMZ.com

During one of two lengthy interviews, West discussed how his reputationand market value as a player have been affected by comedians, rappers and media poking fun at his personal life. To put it in the proper context, here is the passage from our story: There's an elephant in the room _ the Internet rumor _ that the reporter has no intention of broaching because it was never remotely substantiated. It, too, became part of comedy routines. "It's affected me," West says. "Everywhere I go, first question, 'Don't tell me you did that.' " "That" would be the rumor that during the 2010 playoffs, West had a sexual encounter with Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James' mother, Gloria. Dallas Morning News

The parking valet on the end of a slap from LeBron James' mom fired back this week in a lawsuit alleging he suffered emotional distress, humiliation, mental anguish, medical expenses, the loss of the ability to earn money, and the loss of capacity for enjoyment of life. Rockfeller Sorel hired lawyer Angela Cohn, who filed the suit Tuesday in Miami-Dade court. A day later, a grainy video appeared on gossip website TMZ showing the altercation at the posh Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel, the infamous slap and a tumbling Gloria Marie James. In the suit, Sorel asks for damages of more than $15,000 for negligence, assault and battery. It says that James, 43, "verbally abused and threatened" Sorel, "creating a well founded fear in the Plaintiff that violence was imminent." Palm Beach Post

In an interview Wednesday, Sorel's lawyer said the "verbal abuse" included a profanity-filled tirade that included personal attacks, and a racial obscenity. The suit goes on to say that "the losses are either permanent or continuing and Plaintiff will suffer the losses in the future." "All he was doing was his job,'' Cohn said. "He did not know who she was, and he did not ask for this to happen." Sorel, Cohn added, hasn't returned to his job as a parking valet at the Fontainebleau and "his future is unclear there." Lawyers for Gloria James responded with a statement. "On behalf of Ms. Gloria James, we do not comment on pending legal matters,'' said attorneys Christopher G. Lyons and Sandy Becher. "Therefore, we will not have any comment regarding the civil lawsuit, which was filed yesterday." Palm Beach Post

LeBron James hit the town in Miami with his crew this weekend but left his rowdy mother, Gloria, at home. James attended the Audemars Piguet party at Soho House on Saturday night with teammate Chris Bosh. After the Miami Heat crushed the Celtics on Sunday, he was expected to celebrate at LIV nightclub in the Fontainebleau, the hotel where Gloria allegedly slapped a valet attendant last week. His father figure, Eddie Jackson, an ex-boyfriend of Gloria, partied with James' posse. Noticeably missing from the revelers was Gloria, who's been lying low in Ohio since the debacle. New York Post

The media contingent Thursday was larger than it’s been lately, and that wasn’t due to Dwyane Wade’s lingering thigh injury. Rather, it was due to the early morning arrest of LeBron James’ mother, Gloria, for simple battery and disorderly intoxication at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. She attended the Heat game several hours earlier. According to the police report, Gloria James, 43, was angry that her car wasn’t promptly retrieved, as she and the driver waited outside the hotel. Then she allegedly struck Rockfeller Sorel (the valet) with an “open hand across the right side of his face”. After practice, her son said he was home at the time. (That’s not hard to believe. It was 4:57 a.m., after all.) “Tough game last night, I decided to get my rest,” he added. Palm Beach Post

The mother of Miami Heat basketball star LeBron James was arrested by Miami Beach police after she reportedly assaulted a valet worker because it was taking too long to have her car delivered. Police said Gloria James had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and her eyes were bloodshot when officers arrived at the Fontainebleau Hotel at about 4:47 a.m. ET Thursday. ESPN.com

The cop says the valet explained that he retrieved James' car and put it on the valet ramp in front of the hotel while Gloria and a female driver stood around talking to people for 30 minutes. Finally, the valet says he turned the car off. The valet says Gloria then approached him and stated, "Where are my f**king keys and continued yelling profanities at the victim." The report explains, "Then for no apparent reason the arrestee struck the victim with an open had [sic] across the right side of his face and in the process causing herself to lose her balance and falling to the ground."
