Kostas Papanikolaou of Olympiacos, winner this year “rising star award” as he team defended its title in London, has already proved that he is one of the best European players and this why many NBA teams are thinking of approaching Portland to acquire his rights. Blazers followed him closely throughout the season, but at this point it seems that “Pap” in not on the immediate plans of Neil Olshey. Portland (besides starter Nicolas Batum) also has another talented European forward with Spaniard Victor Claver and is no need to “overload” the small forward position. EuroHoops.net So there is a strong chance that the Blazers will trade his rights and many teams has shown interest. Spurs and Mavericks are among them, as well as the Knicks who drafted Papanikolaou on No48 of last year’s draft. Knicks GM Glen Grunwald visited London for a day, just to watch him on the semifinal against CSKA! EuroHoops.net |

Jason Kapono is out from PAO BC. At least that’s what he wants and asked before today’s game against KAOD. The American sharp shooter is not expected to finish the season in Greece, as he appeares to be irritated by his lack of minutes in Euroleague and in the Greek league. This is more than truth, since he wasn’t used not even for a second in the last game against Anadolu Efes. EuroHoops.net |

Vasilis Spanoulis: “At this moment I am focus to Olympiacos and our season’s goals. We want to play in Euroleague’s play offs, we want to remain Greek champions and we also want the Greek cup. I don’t know what could happen in the summer. It’s something that I will think about when it would be time to do so”. Still, does he want to return to the States in order to prove that he can play in the NBA? His answer for the moment is just a big smile! “I will see the offers that will be available and for sure I will examine all of them”. EuroHoops.net |

Jason Kapono wrote an open letter which was posted in Panathinaikos bc official website. The American forward is thanking the Greek team for its support to his family problems (his wife is having pregnancy complications), but he still haven’t decided if he will come to Athens. “Having reached a deal with Panathinaikos last week, I faced an unexpected family emergency, that delayed my departure to Greece. At this moment my situation is still unclear and I don’t know yet if it will prevent me from fulfilling my obligations to the team. My agents and Panathinaikos are in constant contact and me and my family will try to find a positive solution. Panathinaikos is one of the most legendary clubs in Europe and I was excited to join them and be a part of their winning tradition. Everyone in the team is fully professional and respected my situation, specially owner Mr. Giannakopoulos, whom I thank personally about his support”. EuroHoops.net |

Panathinaikos announced officially on Friday the 16th of November the singing of Jason Kapono and a few hours latter his wife had complications in her latest pregnancy. The Greek club is in constant contact with the player, waits to be informed about the new date of his arrival – he was scheduled to travel to Greece on Sunday – and clarified to the American player that his wife will have the best possible medical care in Athens. EuroHoops.net Kapono seems to appreciate the behavior of the club, but he is worried due to the condition of his wife and he seems reluctant to come immediately to Greece on his own, or with his whole family. The Greens on the other hand can’t wait forever and even with his contract being signed, the deal could be voided. Kapono should decide what he will do in the next two or three days. If not, then Panathinaikos will not have any other choice than to move on. EuroHoops.net |
