Sources told ESPN.com that Wolves owner Glen Taylor and Warriors counterpart Joe Lacob have maintained a level of dialogue on a potential trade of Love to Golden State, which sources insist would have been clinched by now had the Warriors -- at the behest of new coach Steve Kerr -- relented on their refusal to part with Thompson. The Warriors have been unwilling to offer the Timberwolves more than a combination of former All-Star forward David Lee and 2012 lottery pick Harrison Barnes -- likely packaged with a future first-round pick -- in exchange for Love and swingman Kevin Martin, according to sources. The report out today is the Warriors are willing to part with forwards David Lee and Harrison Barnes for New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler. This would be an excellent trade — if Warriors general manager Bob Myers sees the end of his tenure under Joe Lacob coming and wants to start preparing for his next move. Bleacher Report

For the record, a precursory look into this with my sources revealed this won’t happen. But it doesn’t take an inside source to see this would be a very backwards move from Golden State. San Jose Mercury-News

Barnes averaged 9.5 points and 4 rebounds as he saw his field goal percentage dip to 39.9 as he led former coach Mark Jackson’s second unit and occasionally got time with the regular starters. “There was a lot of back-and-forth in terms of starting and not starting,” said Barnes, who started 24 games this past season. “Obviously, I’m just looking forward to going in this year and hopefully have a little more solidarity in whatever position I’m going to be in. Hopefully, it’s not back and forth again. Hopefully, it’s one thing or another. You’re able to get adjusted that way.” Contra Costa Times

The source who spoke to SheridanHoops said Love wants to play for a contending team in a big market, and that speculation that Love ranks Los Angeles ahead of all other cities was vastly overstated. Among the rumors Sunday was that Golden State was willing to offer a package including David Lee and Harrison Barnes, and on Monday the New York Post reported that Knicks president Phil Jackson is “plotting” to try to acquire Lee in a trade (good luck with that, Phil). Chris Paul couldn't stop watching the play. Once. Twice. Again. Another time. It bothered him that he didn't make the right call in a late three-on-one, getting his shot blocked by Harrison Barnes instead of passing to J.J. Redick. That didn't even compare with the two free throws he missed with 11 seconds left in the Clippers' 109-105 loss to Golden State in Saturday's playoff opener. Long night for Paul. Long Sunday too. "I looked at it, I think, six different times [Sunday] morning," Paul said of the missed three-on-one chance. Los Angeles Times
