The Orlando Magic will waive veteran small forward Hedo Turkoglu today at 5, according to NBA sources. Turkoglu, 34, will become a free agent and able to sign with any other team. The move by the Magic was expected. The club had until next Tuesday to waive Turkoglu -- or be on the hook for his full $12 million salary instead of a guaranteed $6 million. Orlando Sentinel

Turkoglu and the Magic had agreed that Turkoglu would not play or practice with the team until his contractual situation was resolved. He did not fit into their rebuilding plans. The Magic had been trying to reach a buy-out agreement with Turkoglu, who was serving a second stint with the Magic. NBA sources say that Turkoglu, who has been working out at Rollins College, wants to continue his playing career. Orlando Sentinel
