Things haven't been right for a while. David West had sounded the alarm as far back as early February. Now, his teammates have picked up on it. And it wasn't simply the three-game slide that roused the Pacers awake, but the open communication that followed each frustrating loss. It started with a small gathering between West and Rasual Butler near the post-game spread after the heartbreaker to the Golden State Warriors. Then in Charlotte, in the back corner of the visitor's locker room, Ian Mahinmi and Roy Hibbert could be seen sitting and conversing with West. By Friday night, the conference had grown and the conversation lasted longer. Indianapolis Star

While the 6-11, 250-pound Ian Mahinmi has been a serviceable backup center, Bynum has more size and is a better rim protector. Also, the coaching staff had previously evaluated Bynum while scouting Cleveland and Vogel thought that even then, he moved well on the defensive end. "He looked good," Vogel said. "(Bynum has) pretty good mobility and just looked like he's going to be a force." Indianapolis Star

Collet's options in the frontcourt however were limited, as on Monday it was confirmed that Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah and Indiana Pacers center Ian Mahinmi would not be available to play at the EuroBasket, and therefore did not receive a call-up. The absence of the two NBA players aggravated a problem for Les Bleus at the center position, as before them three other big men had pulled out of the national team, for different reasons. Kevin Seraphin of the Washington Wizards announced he would follow an individual training program in the summer. After missing EuroBasket 2011 with a hand injury, Ronny Turiaf is expected to return to the France line-up. Eurobasket 2013

The fifth year center, who spent the previous two seasons in Dallas, acknowledged he knew his time with the Mavericks had come to an end before free agency began. Although Mahinmi was moving on, he remains happy his former club received value in return in the deal based on how the organization treated him with respect over the past two years. “I was going to come to Indiana regardless,” Mahinmi said to HOOPSWORLD on his free agency plans. “So I’m just happy we were able to make [the trade] work that way. I think it worked good for both teams and I’m thankful for everything Dallas did for me the last two years. I’m happy we worked a good deal for both sides.” As part of the deal, Mahinmi signed a four-year $16 million contract with the Pacers. HoopsWorld
