KC Johnson: Fredette will wear No. 32. Where have you gone, Rip Hamilton? Twitter @KCJHoop

His name still wasn’t on the dotted line as of Saturday evening, but according to a source, Jimmer Fredette has agreed to join the Bulls after clearing waivers earlier in the day. Fredette, whom the Sacramento Kings selected with the 10th pick in the 2011 draft, never really found his way with the team. The Kings bought out his contract Thursday. Several other teams expressed interest, but Fredette told people right off the bat that the Bulls were his team of choice because of their need for outside shooting and coach Tom Thibodeau’s track record in resurrecting careers. Jimmer Fredette has cleared waivers and will sign with the Chicago Bulls, according to a league source. Fredette reached a buyout agreement with the Sacramento Kings earlier this week and has found a spot to land in Tom Thibodeau's system. While Thibodeau wouldn't confirm interest in Fredette on Friday, he did admit the Bulls would welcome any shooting they could get. ESPN.com

“Anytime we can add shooting,” coach Tom Thibodeau said Friday before the Bulls’ shootaround, “we’re interested.” Thibodeau declined to specifically address Fredette, who agreed to a buyout from the Kings on Thursday. If he clears waivers Saturday, the Bulls could add him as their 13th player. “The more shooting you have, the more it opens up the floor,” Thibodeau said. “We want to open things up to attack off the dribble, with our cuts, things of that nature. We feel that is an area of need.” Chicago Tribune

The Chicago Bulls are closing in on signing former Sacramento Kings guard Jimmer Fredette, according to sources close to the process. Sources told ESPN.com on Thursday that -- while stressing a deal is not yet complete -- serious mutual interest between the sides has made Fredette's landing with Chicago look increasingly likely.
