While Lopez's return is a big lift, it appears that Joel Freeland will be out a little longer. Freeland said he won't be back for "at least a few weeks" prior to Tuesday's game. He's been shooting, which is progress since before the Blazers last road trip. He also said he has another MRI scheduled later in the month. Columbian

But first, it must be understood that to get something, the Blazers must give up something. It's safe to assume that Olshey will not touch the starting five of Lillard, Wesley Matthews, Batum, LaMarcus Aldridge and Lopez. Veterans Steve Blake and Kaman are core players, and Olshey remains highly protective with two of his former lottery picks in CJ McCollum and Meyers Leonard. That leaves the most likely trade bait forward Thomas Robinson, forward Dorrel Wright, center Freeland, forward Victor Claver and wings Will Barton and Allen Crabbe. Oregonian

Freeland didn't suffer a tear or any structural damage when he hurt his right shoulder blocking a Paul Millsap dunk attempt, but he did strain his shoulder enough that he'll miss at least two weeks of action. That timeline is welcome news to Freeland. "I was kind of happy when they said like two weeks, because in the moment I thought it was like surgery," He told reporters with his arm was supported in sling after Blazers practice. "That's how bad it felt in the moment. When they gave me that timeline of two weeks, I was kind of happy and kind of relieved." Oregonian

Joel Freeland has decided not to represent Great Britain for the Eurobasket 2015 Qualifiers this summer, opting instead to remain in Portland to workout with the Trailblazers. It comes as a major blow to coach Joe Prunty and the GB side, who are already sweating over the availability of free agent Luol Deng and Byron Mullins, who is expected to be a no show. Speaking to MVP Magazine in January, Freeland, who missed Eurobasket 2013 to focus on his season with Portland, admitted that he missed international duty, saying “I’m definitely excited about getting back involved.” TalkBasket

Kerry Eggers: Joel Freeland on #blazers’ addition of Chris Kaman: “It’s a business. What can we do? He’s a great player. He’s going to help us a lot. It means me and Meyers (Leonard) have to pick it up more and prove our worth so we can play on this team." Twitter @kerryeggers
